I"™m not sure this belongs in this forum, but here goes.
I hooked up with another member via the swap hunt thing. I kept up my end of the deal, and even tossed in a little extra. When it was his turn, he wasn"™t able to hold up his end. I sent a USPS registered letter to him, and asked that he write back telling me how we could resolve this. I got confirmation he received the letter, before Christmas, but haven"™t heard from him since.
Suggestions???

If I send you, the wife, and your two kids to Hawaii for ten days, I'd say I'm out just a little. I also had purchased license, tags, and my airline ticket.
The guy tells me his mother-in-law got sick, and I believe him. I REALLY wanted the hunting trip, but now I've just got this sour taste left. Even if we did reschedule, I"™d always be left wondering if he was working his hardest for me (call it my paranoia).
Anyway, 10 days in Hawaii plus the air fair (for him and his) leaves me with an awful lot to swallow.

Can you pursue legal action on a swap hunt ?
I could maybe see a breach of contract issue if paper was exchanged , but verbal is hard to enforce . Sorry it didn't work out .
PS: Charlie's a pretty big boy , you might want to consider his offer ...

Any agreement or purchase that I do online is printed for my records. These printouts of an agreement should be considered a binding contract and legal action would be reasonable. If you didn't do this,I don't think you have much chance of winning any legal claim.
I have all the emails we exchanged. I have an email from him stating he had a great time. I also have an email stating that he agres to take me hunting. I think I have enough evidence to esstablish that we did infact have an agreement, and that I did indeed deliver on my part and that he was more than satisfied with what I provided.
My problem is, if this guy is really down on his luck and I file, then what? You can't get water out of a bucket of sand.

bnh, that plain sucks, sounds like a deadbeat to me. any respectable person would offer something in return. if you file and obtain judgment against him you will have at least 10 years to enforce paymnt unless of course he files ch 7 or 13 then all is lost.
i would give this guy an honest chance to make some sort of repayment then file suit or let everyone know he is a deadbeat.
