Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default So why bother?

I heard a report on the news this morning as I was driving in that said that U.S. aid trucks in Indonesia have been told to take banners off the trucks and maintain a low profile to avoid putting themselves in harm's way because some of the Muslims over there are apparently up in arms about our presence there. Christian aid workers are also being cautioned.

So why bother? Why not pull out and tell the ungrateful bastards to fend for themselves?

first, i would look for corroborating statements from a secondary media outlet. it may well be true, but i never trust only one media outlet these days.

second, if it is indeed true, my personal feeling is that we should do as they ask. when i gave money, i gave it to help people devastated by the tsunami. i didn't give it so they would know who it was from, or so they would be grateful. those in need are poor people who have been had their lives washed away. though some may tie this to politics, i don't believe those in need are...and i myself will not.

if those in need were in iraq or afghanistan, i would have still given to help them.

Does giving need to be advertised?

Maybe because it's a small percentage of the people that might be a problem.

The footage I've seen hasn't shown anyone being ungrateful. Even Fox news so it might not be a left wing liberal slant on it either.

How have you Been Ben?

Charlie, I've been very well, thank you.

You guys are missing the point. Giving to any sort of charitable cause should be anonymous. If you insist on your name being known, you're giving for the wrong cause. But if our trucks can't even drive down the street without coming under threat of attack . . . well, I guess I just look at things with a different perspective. To me, it's kinda like biting the hand that feeds you. I'd tell 'em to go to hell. Muslims are, by and large, an uncivilized people and always will be.

Ifferd, the same could be said for Iraq. If I were Commander In Chief, I'd pull our troops out and bring them home. Let them fight and kill each other. When they start to become a threat to us or our allies, I'd bomb 'em into oblivion.

But that's just my neo-conservative view, I suppose.

I'm not going to pretend that there aren't good people in the areas affected by the tsunami. I'm not going to pretend there aren't good people in Iraq. I've said in the past that one of the best men I've ever met in my life is a Shiite Muslim from Iran. But the at-large unappreciative attitude towards America really irritates me.

Look, these are the types of people who cheer and laugh when our soldiers' bodies are dragged through the street. Yet when they fall into harm's way, we step up to the plate and deliver private donations at a rate of approximately $100,000 PER HOUR to help them out. And the appreciation we get is more hatred towards us? Sorry, I've just about lost all respect for Muslims.

Why is it then, that in most other countries that have trouble makers, the general population tends to verbally and sometimes physically squash them... but in these countries there isn't even passive resistance?

Because they "all" actually back the radicals up.

On FOX News the other day, there was a woman from Thailand saying how grateful they are to the Americans and all we've done and when asked about the anti-American sentiment she said, "Oh no, don't believe that!" One of the best clips I've seen since the disaster. Unfortunately, I only saw it on FOX that one day.
