I'm sure you've all been hearing the news on the Andrea Yates (child drowner/murderer) case the past few days. I know the topic of insanity plea has come up before, but here's yet another perfect example. This makes me sick. The premise for her insanity plea came from a TV show where a mother drown her kids (CSI, Law & Order, one of those idiotic shows). The show was never aired, so her defense clowns lied to get her the insanity plea. Now her lawyers are saying she is insane regardless that the defense lied to get her the plea. They want to get her out of prison and placed in a nut house in order to get her proper treatment as she is not getting the proper treatment through the prison system's shrinks.

This really tic's me off - the witch drown FIVE kids. Who cares if she is getting the proper medical/psychiatric treatment? Why do we want to make a person like this better? Fry the b!tch! [:@]

i don't think the insanity defense itself is wrong....but it is grossly overused when it doesn't apply.

She will be tried again. There isn't a double jeapardy situation, I guess. So she will be tried again. I hope she gets punished.

Most insanity defenses cite that the "insanity" was essentially self inflicted by drugs or alcohol -- not the key words "self inflicted" .

One of the guys that used to post on this site found her photo with a caption under it on some "write an inmate" website.

Apparently she's looking for a new man to start a family with all over again...

I heard an interview on CNN with her lawyer. The guy was saying that her husband or ex husband, whatever he is, visits her once a month, and her mother visits her three times a month. Why in the world would you visit a anyone in prison who killed ALL of your kids? This guy must be as insane as she is.

Her new attorney wants this re-tried to get her out of prison and into a better environment for her illness. My suggestion for the proper environment would be in a pool of salt water crocs that missed lunch for a week.
