Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

I don't think the Democrats are going to let him just waltz into the Justice Department. Leahy and some others are ripping into him for his role in Bush's 'torture policies'. More sparks are sure to fly.

Personally, I really can't tell whether he'd make a good AG (or shall I say better than Ashcroft). He seems like a good man, and he's definitely a success story. His professional qualifications lead me to believe he's capable of the position, and I have no reason to protest his nomination. Time will tell.

Southern Legal Resource Center?! "A civil rights law firm for Confederate Southern Americans"?!?!

Sorry guys, war ended a long time ago. The illegitimate country that never was never will be.

Having said that, messing with the Texas Constitution certainly could be serious business. I haven't read it, and I have no idea how well this lawsuit holds water. Whether or not this is a warning sign of things to come remains to be seen.

They are giving him a hard time regarding the "torture" of prisoners document and how prisoners will be handled under him but in the end I believe he will get the nod.
Maybe he'll learn somethng from this about writing memos.

would anyone truly be surprised that a proposed member of the administration would favor constitutional changes?

the president himself openly supports altering the constitution.

It's not up to them to change it. It's important to remember that before you start criticizing.

He appears to be well qualified and I think that after Kennedy and Leahy bet on him for a while, his nomination will be approved. I think a few Democrat senators in states where there are a healthy population of Hispanics may flip.

Regarding the replacement of anything that had to do with the Confederacy, I think it's a shame. It is part of the history of the South. The fact that the Battle Flag has been hijacked by idiots who have a multitude of phobias stinks. And many of them are up North. It really ticks me off.
