Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Family in Iraq

I was wondering how many members have somebody who is serving in Iraq now or served in Iraq earlier during the war. I'd bet all of you could offer some interesting information and opinions about what is really going on in Iraq. God bless your family members who are serving in Iraq. Semper Fi and a big Urrahh for all the ole devil dogs and family members on the board.

My marine cousin returned this year from a tour in Iraq. He left the corp, and doesn't have much to say about it.

Lets pray for the american soldiers, and the Iraqi people who have been put in harms way by evil men!

calhunter my son was in Iraq throughout Operation Iraqi Freedom and spent 6 months in Afghanistan after that.

He has first hand knowledge of how happy the Iraqi people were about being liberated from Sadaam. He is very upset with the news media right now, because they are presenting only the bad side of the Iraqi story and not the good side. They do not mention that the vast majority of the Iraqi people still support us and hate the insurgents.

Shrewman I assume you are talking about the insurgents/terrorist when you speak of "evil men".

All of our troops and the Iraqi people stay in my prayers.

No, I am speaking of the evil politicians who trumped up false charges in order to start a war, to further their stranglehood of power and wealth.

"Insurgent" is just another word created by propagandists to define people who actually fight back when they are attacked.

Shrew,Posts like yours make me proud to be an American. It's great to live in a country where you can openly criticize the President and our goverment and stay alive.Even if your post is not based on facts.

My father was marked for death for saying alot less then you just did while in College. He lived under the thumb of a dictator.

Very true friz, but at least this close minded fanatic looks at both sides of an issue and draws his conclusion due to facts available to him, and I put far more wieght into facts I gain from those with first hand knowledge, then I do from taking etreme left wing, right wing, or any other form of radical source of information.

We must remember that Jesus taught that those who called for peace, mercy, and restaint would be viewed by the people of the world as evil, while those who called for war, and vengence would be viewed as righteous by the world.

Good will be seen as evil, and evil will be seen as good, yet this is the vision of the world. Those not of this world know that they are viewed by jesus, and not worldly men.

Just found this on Drudge.

Despite a year of ferocious combat, mounting casualties and frequent deployments, support for the war in Iraq remains very high among the active-duty military, according to a Military Times Poll.
Sixty-three percent of respondents approve of the way President Bush is handling the war, and 60% remain convinced it is a war worth fighting. Support for the war is even greater among those who have served longest in the combat zone: Two-thirds of combat vets say the war is worth fighting.

But the men and women in uniform are under no illusions about how long they will be fighting in Iraq; nearly half say they expect to be there more than five years.

In addition, 87%% say they're satisfied with their jobs and, if given the choice today, only 25% say they'd leave the service.

Compared with last year, the percentages for support for the war and job satisfaction remain essentially unchanged.

A year ago, 77% said they thought the military was stretched too thin to be effective. This year, that number shrank to 66%.

The findings are part of the annual Military Times Poll, which this year included 1,423 active-duty subscribers to Air Force Times, Army Times, Navy Times and Marine Corps Times.

The subscribers were randomly surveyed by mail in late November and early December. The poll has a margin of error of +/"”2.6%.

Among the poll's other findings:

"¢75% oppose a military draft.

"¢60% blame Congress for the shortage of body armor in the combat zone.

"¢12% say civilian Pentagon policymakers should be held accountable for abuse at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.

Contributing: The independent Military Times Media Group consists of four newspapers published by Gannett
