who agrees with me that republicans and george bush rule
now we all know that republicans rule and i just want to know how many of you are republicans or what you think about them!!! and what you like about them or hate about them!!!! all right
RE: who agrees with me that republicans and george bush rule
Conservative man here. i really like what Bush stands for (pro-life, anti gay marriage, guns) i think it is very important to have someone with morals to run this country, which seems to be running out or morals.

I'm a republican and I generally agree with what we stand for. When I disagree, I voice my opinion, try to change things at a grass roots level if I can and live with it if I can't. I don't think I'm perfect and think it's silly to expect others to be perfect either.

The Republican Party may be in control, but I thought the whole idea of America was not to be ruled!
Lets see what has happened in my four years under Bush.
1. My take home pay has increased by a whopping 5%. Not each year, but total for the four years.
2. The average price of gas went from $1.10 to $1.50 as we neared the 2000 election.
3. I now drive twice as far to and from work.
4. My property taxes have gone up by over 50%.
5. My children have lost their freedom of speech in the school. Talk about Christmas or God, and you get in trouble for not being politically correct.
6. The government stole ¼ of my property via eminent domain. Not a single politician (local, state, federal) would return a call or email.
7. We are in a religious war that my child will fight in.
8. America has fewer allies today that when Bush was elected.
9. The divide between the lower middle class and the upper middle class has widened.
Politicians listen less now than they did before and the average citizens voice has been diminished. Am I really better off than four years ago? No. Am I any worse off, not really although the government continues to take property away from my neighbors and I at an alarming rate.

The time for revolution is now.

We're not technically "ruled" although it sometimes seems like it. Our system of government is representative in that the pols represent us and are supposed to take care of public business for us. They sometimes forget that and need to be reminded. Like Daschle, Kerry and Edwards just got reminded of this.
1. My take home pay has increased by a whopping 5%. Not each year, but total for the four years.
Most union, military and public sector jobs tend to get predictable COLA's (cost of living allowance) raises that are usually are rarely more than 1-3% a year. These same jobs often don't pay as well as the private sector but tend to offer a little more job security. Private sector jobs can offer stunning levels of pay and pay raises or can pay you peanuts with little to no pay raises depending on the necessity of your job. Your 5% for 4 years is a little low but not that far off the "average."
2. The average price of gas went from $1.10 to $1.50 as we neared the 2000 election.
No argument there. We've been getting screwed on the price of gas for years and that includes from all of our fake allies like Russia.
3. I now drive twice as far to and from work.
That may be a necessity for your line of work or a personal choice.
4. My property taxes have gone up by over 50%.
You need to get some different city or county LOCAL level politicians elected who stop spending more money than people can afford and realize that no, you can't afford or pay for everything for the unwashed masses.
5. My children have lost their freedom of speech in the school. Talk about Christmas or God, and you get in trouble for not being politically correct.
This is troubling in that another group's choice is now being forced upon christians. I work hard to put my son in private religious schools so he can get religious instruction with his schoolwork. And I forfeit all of my tax dollars that weould have gone towards my son's school. [:@] Not everybody has the work opportunity to afford that. This just reinforces my belief that school vouchers are the only sane way to allow parents to choose the education their child receives.
6. The government stole ¼ of my property via eminent domain. Not a single politician (local, state, federal) would return a call or email.
It's practically iompossible to change that on the national level although President bush is trying to do just that. I think a flat tax is the only fair way to go on a national level. Locally, it really does make a difference in who you elect and you CAN elect good pols locally.
7. We are in a religious war that my child will fight in.
I don't know how old your "child" is but that term "usually" connotes somebody younger than 16. If you're referring to the Iraq war and our dangerous peace process, I doubt your child will fight in that war. If you're referring to islamic (including al queda) terrorist groups' jihad against the U.S., we've been getting attacked in that war through terrorist actions for the last 30 years or so. Choosing to fight in this war only means that we now have a chance at lessening the attacks and in preventing further attacks on U.S. soil. Bottom line here is that we are going to be in this "religious war" whether we choose to participate or not.
8. America has fewer allies today that when Bush was elected.
I disagree. I think we found out that some of our alleged allies (Russia, Germany and pissant francer come to mind) were nothing more than fairweather allies and backstabbing friends to begin with. Bush's policies have brought to light something that existed all along. Many of these countries simply are not true allies nor were they true friends.
9. The divide between the lower middle class and the upper middle class has widened.
Yes and no. I remeber when it used to be common thinking that anybody making $75,000 a year was practically rich. Then $100,000 a year. Nowadays, families making under $200,000 are still considered upper middle class. I would say that we have redefined what income levels are middle class and that the entire class has widened instead of just 2 middle class ends of the spectrum.
Politicians listen less now than they did before and the average citizens voice has been diminished. Am I really better off than four years ago? No. Am I any worse off, not really although the government continues to take property away from my neighbors and I at an alarming rate.
Yes and no again. south Dakota pols listen better now and I imagine a few other states have improved the quality of their pols paying attention also. If you're not any better off, you need to determine if there is a possible change in your investment/retirement/living plans that would improve your lot. It's not always fun and often involves extra work and sacrifice but it can be done. My wife and I continue to refine our plans each year and often manage to find an improvement. We absolutely do not wait for the government to find one for us.

Yes and no. A lot of people (especially including the idiot media) live by that thought on perception being their "truth." That only goes so far and eventually REALITY (read truth) arrives and bites you in the arse. Again, refer to Daschle for a recent example.
