Something I seem to notice here, on the political forum is how men who claim to be honest, and upright Americans, degenerate into name callers, and slanderers when opposing political views are presented.
On one particular thread, one poster is accusing another poster of illegal drug use, simply because that poster has different opinions. One has to wonder about the integrity of such people who openly disregard the privledge of posting here free of charge, being asked only to obey the rules that plainly say to avoid all personal name calling, and slanderous inuendo.
Is there no Honor among these people? Is this a by-product of improper upbringing,?. Is this a regional thing?, or can it be attributed to depression, and insecurity??
I have my opinions, but will hold them for now. What say you people. Do you support people who disregard rules, and act without Honor, or do agree that they should be seperated from societal functions as penalty for their behavior???
Well, I guess the three previous responses answered your question! I guess NO is the conclusion, more's the pity. I believe civility no longer pervades our society....

Shrewman, honor is something you earn and live each day of your life. Others can attack your honor but only you can uphold it and/or restore it. There is a certain lack of civility on this BBS lately but it's almost predictable when you look at the "****" figure for the year of birth of most of those posters birthdays in their Member Details sections (i.e., they are minors as in under 18 YO).
It's easy to resort to namecalling and insults when you're faced with opposition in an argument. It's much harder to remain on topic and prevail with logic and/or common sense. Having said that, it's pretty much impossible to convince another person of your point of view once you start insulting them. Most people simply won't see through their mad to think about your logical argument (if you've presented one). And, once you've got somebody mad, it's extremely difficult to go back to a civil discourse in the same discussion.
Some members have pointed out different instances of you participating in the mudslinging and sometimes adding smiley faces after the insult. When you insult people on this board, the serious posters generally will stop exchanging ideas and posts with you as they won't take you seriously. The angry members will post insults in return. And as you've obviously noticed, those topics quickly degenerate into flame wars, etc. Now that you've started this post, perhaps this is a growth stage for you to move up to the next level of posting.
