Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default It's Christmas time !!!

Well once again we are approaching the end of December, when shopping malls get packed, bellies get full and kids sit on santa's lap. Oh yeah, it's also the time of year when all of the weirdos climb out of the woodwork to claim that their freeom of religion is being violated because they have to set their eyes on a horrible, ugly, discusting thing called a Christmas Tree. When they have to tolerate holiday music being played in wal-marts and other stores all across the nation. Where they have to listen to people at work say "merry Christmas" and "happy holidays". Did I mention that some of our schools have now had to ban ANYTHING Christmas ??? Did I mention that towns across America have decided to cancel parades ??? Did I mention that some businesses and even local government buildings are not allowed to display anything representing Christmas ??? I think it's rediculous and I for one am ashamed that there are people out there giving into these hardliners !!!! I am not what you call the most religious person in the world, I have my beliefs, it may not be the same God as you have, but who cares ??? I don't care if you worship a peice of bubble gum that you saved since you were five. If you wanted to display that peice of gum for all the world to see and CHOOSE to worship, more power to you. If I don't like it, I could look the other way. I think you get my point. I would like to know everyone elses oppinion on this subject.

If you are truely the Elect, if you are truely saved by Christ, you will not need to let the world know you believe in "Christmas". Your light will shine before men, even if "Christmas" is outlawed, and practice of it punishable by death. Your salt will add flavour in a tasteless world, even though you are in bondage.

Set your sight upon the Cross, and place your future in the Second Birth, that destroyed Golgotha, and made eternity possible!!!

Actually I'm not looking at it from a religious standpoint. I'm making a point that needs to be addressed. In some way, shape, or form, everyone's rights are violated on a daily basis when it comes right down to it. People are taking the Constitutional Rights to the extreme and twisting it around to benefit their own views.

99 percent of what goes on today at Christmas has nothingto do with Christ birth anyway. I celebrate the birth even though he was not born in December .

For 2000 years we celebrated Christs Birth. Whether that was your religion that you profess to or not, it has been around for a little while. All of a sudden, a few people don't want want the masses to do this anymore because a "few" people may get offended by looking or listening to some belief that doesn't correspond with their belief !! Well, I say lets take a vote !!! I think the masses would agree that the "few" should not look or listen if they don't want to belive what the masses believe !! The masses should not have to succumb to the whinings of the "few" !!!!

Hmmmm, don't the last few sentences sound like a political election ????

yeah I've even heard people give the excuse when caught with dope that it is for their religion, claiming that it is against their rights for them to be arrested for it because they are "Rasta". What a crock of spit.

Funny Cal,

just as I finished reading that post...the same thought crossed my mind...

Then I scrolled down one or two posts and read that you had posted the same thing. Interesting.[:-]

First off, who or what is a "hoguide"?, and the last time I checked, I did not see any forum rules which forced you to 'listen" to anything. Here you "read", and you have the freedom to "not read".

There are certain people on this forum who simply do not interest me, or who I find to be, shall we say, "not logical". The great thing about this set up here is I DO NOT have to read them, nor do I have to RESPOND to them.

Not to worry "yet". You, and Fro are not on that list, but there is always tomarrow

I suppose it would be logical to string both of my posted sentences together as one continuing thought. However, they were 2 entirely different trains of thought. Hogguide was a tremendously interesting and thoroughly devoted christian who posted on almost all issues with his religion in mind. I actually enjoyed reading many of his posts and posting back and forth with him. While he would belittle people from time to time, he also was willing to discuss almost any aspect of life and religion and actually did think about what people wrote. Like many others, he would email back and forth on a side conversation if another was interested in further discussion. He was a good debater, funny poster and stood up for his beliefs. In some ways, you remind me of Hogguide so I figured what the heck, I'd ask.

I'll amend my first quoted sentence to "I hate reading whining posts." I enjoy reading posts that may have a different opinion and whose authors are willing to discuss issues and actually THINK about what other people posted. Those people are interesting and often spark the best discussions on this board. I don't like reading whiners because they do not really offer anything to consider, discuss or learn from. Mainly they offer just complaint after complaint and not much else.

I also don't like reading people who are so sure of themselves that they give the perception they think they are above or better than everybody else and thus think other people's posts and opinions do not count. People like this are just showing their ignorance and/or stupidity.

As for what is logical and what isn't, that is usually a cognitive distinction based upon our level of learning and life experiences. Some people know more than I do and it's hard to see their logic. That doesn't mean they aren't being logical, just that I am not able to understand what they're saying at their level. Others are on a lower or often more elemental level and I sometimes fail to grasp something they are saying because I'm looking for a more comlex meaning. If you decide not to post with somebody because you deem them to be not logical, you may be missing an opportunity to learn from them and are obviously missing an opportunity to possibly teach them.
