The costs of supporting the criminal aliens that migrate from Mexico and other countries cannot be calculated and far exceeds any "contributions" they make to our economy.
The contention that these criminals pay taxes is another fallacy that does not stand up to the most superficial examination.
illegal aliens paid 305 million dollars in federal income taxes using taxpayer identification numbers in 2001. Considering the estimated eight to twelve million illegal aliens in the country, this equates to about thirty dollars apiece - and is nowhere near enough to pay for the damage they do to our health care system, the strain they put on our schools, or the money they take from our entitlement programs - Twenty-five percent of illegal aliens are receiving government entitlements.
Plans to legalize these criminals are a slap in the face to American taxpayers, and to the immigrants who have followed our laws and waited for their turn. We must send a signal to the politicians who care only about their re-election, and vote out anyone who supports the policies of pandering to these criminals. You can fax your elected representatives for free to let them know how you feel at the following website:
Yep, WE are the ones who are supporting illegal aliens. Its another in a long line of GW Bush blunders to give them sanctuary. Thats exactly what it is!!![:-]
Which one of these illegals holds a job that you would desire to have? Point him or her out to me and I will do everything in my power, such as it is, to insure that you have that job. Here in North Georgia I see them at the chicken processing plants cutting up chickens and cleaning up. I see them doing yard work and stone masonry in all conditions, and I see them working in the chicken houses catching chickens and shoveling chicken droppings. I have yet to observe even one of them doing any engineering work or brain surgery or even a production line job requiring any skill. So how about it, which one holds a job that you would be willing to do for minimum wage or less with no insurance or benefits?

So, are you saying that breaking the law is OK so long as it doesn't interfere with your making a living???......Interesting
Coastie, you are correct if I understand your post.
Illegals fill a void in our economy that very few Americans are willing to fill. They will work in the low paying jobs with no benefit or long range security and are happy to have just that. It's a starting point.
It is not that these jobs were created for them, the job existed and when no one wanted them they filled the void.
I believe that we must get a handle on illegals and have some type of expanded work permit program for migrant employees. Better yet, get that" I don't work for chump change" additude out of the minds of so many unemployeed young Americans. We all start somewhere.
My first paying jobs were wood cutting and working on chicken farms. I retired at 52 with more money than I'll ever need and look back at my beginings as the foundation of what I have provided for myself and my family. Those illegals want that same thing and we have Americans who turn their back on it.
Right now Canada has a problem filling certian postions from construction workers, teacher to stripers. They are allowing citizens from various countreis to come in and fill these postion. We are lucky we don't have to do that ant the level of teacher or construction worker.
I don't blame any human for wanting to improve their lot in life and provide for their family. I imagine they see it as, Heck I'll do that job for that money since you think it is beneath you.
We are the one who need to figure out a solution.

Guys thier sheer numbers here are taking formerly decent paying jobs, and turning them to the lower paying jobs. One of the largest roofing contractors in the area (formerly state roofers who never did pay what the norm was) looks like little mexico in the afternoons![:@]

Is it not amazing how blatant breaking of American law is justified by people who claim to be law abiding citizens?
Another example of dumbing down our country. We all start buying into the bull that Mexicans are taking the low hanging fruit that we don't want. I bought a 23 year old manufacturing company that is small about 2 years ago. 7 of 11 workers are Mexican and are now legal. They were all illegals when they started working here under the previous owner. They are making 12 to 18 dollars an hour now and are skilled workers. The construction trades depend on about 80% hispanics and many are illegals. They are making 7 to 20 dollars an hour at best guess. The problem is we raised a generation of teenagers who we didn't force to work for spending money or college funds! We were happy to get a job for a buck an hour doing dirty work when I was in high school in 1967. Now we let the brown people do those menial jobs and our kids are spoiled little ****z who will be in for a huge shock when they are forced to scrap for a living. They will just keep on living with mom and dad I guess. If you think amnesty and giving away lower pay jobs is a good deal then I hope your kids can find one of those instant manager jobs when they graduate. Hardship builds character. JMO.
Of course, if an illegal alien wasn't around to do some of this work the wages paid for some jobs would go up, and thus make it more desirable to people who won't touch it at minimum wage. Maybe in many cases the work would simply dry up -- for example, home owners might return to mowing their own lawns instead of hiring Mexican lawn crews to do it for them -- but in other cases this would not happen. If you couldn't hire a crew of Mexican's to roof houses for cheap, I guess the wages would have to rise to the point that someone would do the work, as generally the average homeowner would not be competent to roof their own homes.
I have heard it stated with great confidence that our economy now depends upon the illegal Mexican immigrants, like it or not. This probably means that our new home prices are based on the assumption of cheap Mexican labor and disrupting the steady suppy of Mexican immigrants would disrupt these new home prices and hence also used home prices, particularly in growth areas such as the SW. I suppose there may be a different real estate dynamic in older, long developed areas.
Most people state that the Mexican immigrants are very hard workers.
