Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Bush dropped the other shoe today

Did you all see Bush when he was asked about the Food for Oil stuff today.

His remarks (not verbatum)...."In order for the Amercian tax payer to feel comfortable supporting the UN there needs to be a full acconting of the Food for Oil program and I look forward to seeing that process go forward".
The second time he repeated it less than a minute later..."the American tax payer will need to see a complete disclosure and full accounting of the UN food for Oil program and I am looking forward to that process going forward".

If you have watched Bush's facial expressions much when he speaks and the rythem of his words at different times you will notice when he is repeating what has been reherased he is pretty smooth in his delivery and when he is just talking off the cuff he does like me and has to search for the right words.
His interview today was staged to look very casuel but you could tell by the way he talked he had his message rehersed and the message he wanted to send very clear.

What I heard him say by the words he used and the way he said them, Bush is ready willing and able to stop ALL USA tax payer support of the UN, Bush expects the folks below Kofie Annon<sp> to come across with the goods on him and his son, Bush expects real reform at the UN or the USA will with hold any funding.

The remarks Bush made were just after one of the USA sentors asked for Kofie Annon to step down, this came across as being done as a prelude to the remarks Bush wanted to make.
Did any of you see it today and is that what you all gethered from what was said and how it was said?
What I saw was the "other shoe dropping" on the UN.

Thanks
Mr-Pirk

No, but my favorite part about Bush, is when he knows he sais somthing good, he gets that evil little grin on his face. I love it! laugh everytime I see that. My fiancee bought me a book for my birthday, called "More Bushisms" It's full of all the little things that he tried to make sound smart, but it didn't quite work out that way. I love that guy!

Yeah the Bushism are pretty funny. I getting a kick out of them. I have added the word "strategery" to my personal lexicon.

All taxpayers everywhere ought to want a full accounting of the Oil for Food scandle. Are we the only ones that give a dern about it? I understand why countries "on the take" won't push for it, but where is everyone else on it?

We should start by moving the United Nations to an undesirable location like Botswana or somewhere like that. The job is too cushy and benefits the UN bureaucrats too much.

Pharaoh I know what you mean but today his expression was dead-pan and serous and it stayed that way.
It put me in mind of the company I work for, our CEO was setting up our company to fail and cut and run with the money. He fired anyone one who disagreed with him and was getting away with it till someone below him tapped a large stock holder group on the shoulder and gave them the heads-up. As soon as the stock holder group was made aware that it was going to hit them in the pocket book they fired our CEO very quick.
It is my understanding the USA pays 1/4 of all the bills for the UN and Bush is telling the rest of the world that it is going to hit them in the pocket book unless the UN comes clean.
Today is the first time I have noticed Bush making the threat in pretty plain language.
I also think this is just the begining of Bush's process for bringing the UN into line with Bush's feeling about Iran and nukes to other issues around the globe, I see todays remarks as anouncing the beginging of a process and not just a threat concerning the end-game of the Oil for Food program.

Thanks
Mr-Pirk

The best thing this country could do is get out of the UN and close down the building.

It's ashame the UN building wasn't mis-identified and hit by the 9/11 terrorist.

I agree that the UN is nothing but a big waste of money!!! I can't believe we haven't demanded that there be better accountability of the oil for food program before!!

Charlie Brown that is what I kept wondering durring the campain. I kept wondering why Bush didn't push the corrution at the UN issue much harder than he did.

Thanks

It's actually the other way around, when he is trying to do something verbatim, from a scripted speach, he comes off as being inarticulate. When he is speaking in an unscripted environment, one on one he is much smoother and easier to believe and listen to. If you watched the interview with O'reilly a few weeks ago, you would see a vast differenece between the deliveries of an impromptu remark and a scripted performance.
