In our country, those who support abstinence are called fanatics and facists.
Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator--who is forever praised. Amen.
Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion

I agree that the only way to really be safe is a monogomeus relationship with a partner that is free of aids . Not to use hypo's etc. Or to not have sex. If your going to do it you need to wear a condom to lower your risk of getting this STD.
As far as teaching abstinence ,for a very large percentage of people it doesn't work.Then what happens when they do have sex?

I saw the most disturbing thing on the TV. In Africa, the witchdoctors tell them do do this. They raped an 8 month old girl, thinking it would prevent the spread of aids to her. The look on her face, months after it happened. She knew what hapened. She looked like she was dead. There was no life in her face. It's a sick, sick thing. You would think they would have more brains than that. There is a breaking point, and it's about to break.

Yes it is preventable for the majority i agree 100% .
But dont forget the rare cases of ocupationional risks- even with universial precautions .
Blood contacts do happen even with gowns ,rubber gloves, eye shileds etc. As it did a few times when my mate cared for aids patients like those thrashing around in cardac arrest& the iv needle etc goes right thew your shoe , gloves& anything else.
And thats if no one makes any mistakes at the blood bank or the dentists office, tatto parlor etc too.(More ppl die in this country from hep c then aids)It just hides better( can stay dorment for 20-30 yrs)& is not of a polticaly protected lifestyle class of persons& never was.

As much as I would like to say abstinance is the way to go...I can't. It isn't reality. A couple of boat loads full of condoms would help, but that might be going against the ways of The Church to be fruitfull and multiply.
The thing that seems most perplexing to me is that all those TV ads showing starving dying children in third world countries never seem to go away. For years people keep giving and giving money, as does our government to feed them, and they keep having more and more kids who in turn get just enough nourishment to become young adults and bear more children.
It's a bad cycle of life that has been created. Similar to our welfare system.
