Liberal cartoonists accused of racism
Editorial caricaturists crossed line with black stereotypes, say some

The New York Times and Washington Post have featured editorial cartoons this week that, in another age, might have found their place on the pages of a Ku Klux Klan newspaper. And they have some crying racism over their depictions of National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice, the president's nominee to replace Secretary of State Colin Powell.
Jeff Danziger, cartoonist for the New York Times, used Butterfly McQueen's line from "Gone With the Wind" "“ "I don't know nuthin' 'bout birthin' babies" "“ to have Rice deny knowledge of the aluminum tubes at the center of the debate over the administration's rationale for believing Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.
Washington Post cartoonist, Pat Oliphant, depicted Rice as a jabbering, "anything-you-say-boss" parrot "“ with exaggerated lips "“ telling the president how great he is.
Doonesbury, the nationally syndicated columnist, drew a four-panel strip that has Rice confirming former National Security Advisor Richard Clark's accusation that she didn't even know who Osama bin Laden was before 9-11 and the president addressing her as "Brown Sugar."
The use of racial stereotypes "“ exaggerated physical features, ebonics, subservience "“ have raised more than a few hackles.
"This stuff is grotesque," Rush Limbaugh told his radio audience "No American, certainly not a person of Dr. Condoleezza Rice's stature, should be treated like this. It is a new low. It is an absolute new low for the left. ... They claim to be holier than thou. They claim to be above all of us when it comes to understanding the downtrodden and minorities. They claim to be the only ones that have the ability to have the compassion and understanding, and yet they get away with racism. They get away with bigotry."
The uproar over the Washington Post cartoon apparently caused Jeff Danziger to delete it from the archive he maintains at his own website.
"The depiction of Dr. Condoleezza Rice by Jeff Danziger, Pat Oliphant and Garry Trudeau as an ebonics speaking, big lipped, black mammy who just loves her 'massa' is a disturbing trend in editorial cartoons," added Michelle D. Bernard, senior vice president of the Independent Women's Forum (IWF). According to the group's website, IWF was "established to combat the women-as-victim, pro-big-government ideology of radical feminism ... by advancing the principles of self-reliance, political freedom, economic liberty, and personal responsibility.
RE: WHy is this NOT RACISM?? Because a Liberal Did IT
You don't understand. Racism is a term reserved for protecting liberal minorities who vote democrat. The term is not allowed to apply for conservative minorities who are republican.

I saw a couple of these cartoons that were obviously racist. One showed Rice with huge, gigantic lips. The other had quotes of Rice talking in pigin English, such as used to be ascribed to blacks in old time movies, such as "Gone with the Wind."
I am amused too. If conservatives -- Trent Lott comes to mind -- reveal the least amount of racism, they are flayed alive. But this is OK for liberals. The issue can be expanded beyond racism, by the way. It is OK for a Democrat to sexually harass women but not for a conservative Republican. Remember Bill Clinton? Here is a guy who was accused by more than one woman of sexual harrassment, who was taken to court and found it necessary to protect his ass to lie under oath (remember, he was disbarred in Arkansas, and not because he failed to pay his bar dues), who took advantage of a 22 year old woman to have sex. Imagine if some CEO or Republican US Senator enjoyed a 22 year old intern the way Clinton did Monica Lewinsky, what would the liberal press and the National Organization of Women (NOW) say in that case? I was really surprised -- dumb naive me! -- that NOW didn't drub Clinton for the Lewinsky matter. Remember how US Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was ambushed by Anita Hill? The guy supposedly left a pubic hair on a pop can and asked loudly of the whole office "who left this pubic hair on this pop can?!!!" Pretty light weight stuff compared with Clinton's behavior.
Logic and reason do not abide in the camp of the liberals.

The Democrats have had the vast majority of minority national figures in their pockets for so long that they believe any black conservative simply must be an Uncle Tom.

This was rightfully a big topic on talk radio here yesterday.
I was very impressed by the number of woman whom identified themselves as Blacks called in and stated that they had enough.
That the Demmies only come around when they want their vote and otherwise have no use for them. This lite the arena, exposed the demmies for what they really are, not what they want people to think they are.
Personally I think regardless of who did this, it is disgusting. When a person regardless of color works so hard to rise above their beginings and is so effective as Dr. Rice has been they do not deserve this type of treatment. Nobody does.
Hate makes people do stupid things. We'll be seeing more of this foolishness from the liberal as they can not accept thier defeat in this election. As Martha would say, This is a good thing.
I think Dr Rice has to be shaking her head and wondering just how stupid and hateful these people are.
Now the liberals are calling themselves "Progressives". What is progressive about the racism of the early 1900's in 2004?

Anyone remember this one from baseball's Dusty Baker?
"Blacks & Hispanics make better ball players than Whites 'cause they can stand the heat better."
If it had been, say a hockey coach making a quote about a race's inability to play well in cold weather, he'd be canned in a blink.

Well, I think that many black people see the racism in these "cartoons," even though the "black" leadership & "women's" leadership are deafeningly silent regarding the racist attacks on Dr. Rice.
RE: WHy is this NOT RACISM?? Because a Liberal Did IT
Being an "African American" in the Democratic Party has absolutely nothing to do with the color of one's skin, but has everthing to do with the way someone thinks.
Example #1:
Clarence Thomas does not qualify to be an African American. In fact he is hated more than any white person by the liberal black community.
Example #2:
Bush chose two excellant people, Colen Powel, and Condi Rice to two positions that I would argue are easily within the 10 most important positions in the entire world. Secretary of State, and National Security Advisor to the leader of the free world.
Both are almost completely ignored by the liberal black community.
Example #3
To more clearly prove my point about it being how you think and not the color, consider this. Bill Clinton was heralded "The First Black President."
I just wonder who the black candidate would be in a Condi, Hillary race?
