Why haven't the people of Iraq helped themselves out more? They know who the insurgents and the who the people that the Americans want captured. The one guy has 26 million on his head but no one turns him in.
There are people that know where things might be hidden,but they do nothing.
Why are they not taking up arms against these insurgents and the other terroists. These people have to know where the bomb builders are.
I keep watching coverage of Fallugah and the same question keeps coming to me. What are we going to do with it after we take it over again? There aren't enough troops to fortify the city so that it won't become strong hold for Terroists again. we fought for this city in April and then basically gave ut back to the scum.
If these people really want a democracy and a free society why aren't the doing more?

Charlie, I agree and have asked myself the same questions many times. It is easy to second guess our military but I don't understand many things.
I can only guess, that one of the reasons they don't take up arms and fight for their freedom is that they really don't know what that is and that it is worth fighting for. It's not like they had it once and lost it and now want it back. Fighting and squaller and repression is the only thing they have ever known. What's to fight for.
I had a pretty good idea that the people we really wanted to get in Fallujah would be gone long before we got there. On to the next strong hold and eventually they will come back to Fallujah if that is the next place they can go and hide.
I always thought the element of surprise was one of the biggest weapons any military could use. I guess it only shows how little I know.

Three causes come to mind: indifference, cowardice, or support for the insurgency. I believe that most Fallujans, regardless of how they feel about us, still don't want al Qaeda operatives in their city. Most of the civilians left before we even began our advance, so indifference makes the most sense to me.
I think it relates to fear more than anything. These people are like the battered spouses you hear about that just sit back and take the abuse because they no longer know anything else.

There is no history of freedom in the middle east or in many other parts of the world. They will have to learn what freedom is about before they will be able to appreciate it. This is an area where tribal traditions exist even today along with the religious traditions and a culture accustomed to being allowed no individual identity and being discouraged from anything remotely similar to an individual identity.
Strange isn't it? Today many of our political leaders are trying to do the same to us, if you are not identified with some group, you are nothing, you have to be labled as belonging to some group before your needs, wants and desires may be addressed.
These are the people that cheerfully enslaved, for their personal use and profit, millions of Africans for the past six hundred years or more and continue to do so today, yet it is we Americans that get the heaviest portion of blame for the existance of the slave trade in the world as if we were the ones that invented the concept.
I see only one possible answer to this; Pull all our troops out to the border, let then goat it among theirselves until one group finally get s the upper hand, and if that group is a terrorist group, and they finally come together as a group. Then, and only then go into there as they initially wnt before, a large aerial bombardment, then surround and eliminate them. We need to get them to come out in the open before any kind of assault will work. Their hit and run tactics can extend this condition for many years. And that's exactly what they have in mind. We saw this in Vietnam and they are putting the same theme against us.
Back off. Let them regroup and then hit them, HARD!!!
