No they were formed 229 years ago, I do not remeber the specifics, but there have been a few times in our history they almost dissappeared, but thank the good Lord they remained! Happy Birthday to the Corp, Semper Fi!

It was after WWI when congress had the Marines rolled up under the Navy; they were originally created as a counter to the British Royall marines and proved a great asset for securing our freedom from the red coats as well as preserving our freedom today. God loves the Marines because they keep heaven and hell packed with fresh souls.
