Default When is a job more important than your family?

I read this article which is a sad reflection of what putting your job ahead of your family leads to. http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...ifestyle_***an

You know, my first reaction was, "What's wrong with these people?" But then I thought about American (or even other international) women who do the same thing, looking for love and affection in the wrong places because they're ignored at home. These ***anese men had better get their act together.

I'm not going to get too personal, but on more than one occasion I've left work a little bit early for a "rendevous" with Mrs. Six. First things first, you know? Jobs come and go, but your one and only true love is there forever.

I'm reminded of the lyrics to the song "Busy Man"

"Have you ever seen a tomb stone with these words - if only I had spent more time at work"

As for the question, never. Priority in life should be as follows: God, family, job. When deviations from these start to take over, immorality and divorce rates climb. In our society, two income families are the norm not the exception. I honestly believe moral decay in this country has something to do with that.

It took me a while to figure out what makes me happy but after coming to conclusion that most of my joy comes from family, that's my top priority. I've turned down promotions in the last few years because of the extra stress and because of the amount of travel required for the jobs. My wife and I talked it over and decided we'd rather be just an ordinary middle income american family instead of trying to penetrate the upper class. It would have also screwed our hunting. I'm a happy home boy.

Sounds like ***anese employers demand long hours. Thanks God for 40 hour work weeks. I rarely work just 40 but it's nice to know that ceiling is there and I can simply turn down overtime.
