Well, this doesn't surprise me coming from a teabag. Don't get me wrong--Blair's been a good ally of ours, but I'm sure he and his ministers don't want to push their luck any further with the British people.
Unfortunately, Iran can't wait. Once we stabilize Iraq, we need go next door and destroy the mullahs immediately. Whether or not the international community recognizes how important it will be to do so, we're the ones who have the most to lose. If we go it alone, so be it.

Like you said it is a politically convenient statement. I think that once again we have to do them in ourselves or back internal groups to knock them out but something will have to be done. Hopefully sooner then later

I agree Iran needs to be dealt with, to stop them building an atomic bomb, but I wonder if a single well placed air strike isn't enough to stop the bomb project? They need nuclear fuel to build the bomb. They have a reactor to produce this fuel. Just bomb the reactor, as the Israelis did in the 1980s when Saddam Hussein built a reactor to produce nuclear bomb fuel.

Sure, it'd slow them down for awhile, but in the end we'd be doing nothing more than treating the symptoms, not the illness. If you'd recall, despite the fact that the Israelis blew up Saddams breeder reactor, he still continued to pursue his nuclear program. And that also won't stop the Mullahs from acquiring weapons grade reactants from outside sources in the future either, assuming that they haven't already.
One other consideration is that bombing their reactor is an overt act of war anyway. If we are going to do it, why go about it half-assed? Nuclear bombs are like guns in a way, it's not that they exist that poses the danger, but who had their finger on the proverbial "button." So I would argue that the danger to the U.S., Israel and the rest of the western world lie not in the fact that Iran could produce a nuclear bomb, but rather in how they use it or who the radical Islamo-Fascist government chooses to "donate" it to. Iran is a long time supporter, directly and indirectly, of Islamist terrorists regionally and internationally. If we want to destroy the terrorists, we MUST destroy their backers, of which Iran is clearly one.
