Well, first let me say I DID vote for bush and watched the election coverage until about 2am EST at work last night (I live in Nevada). The whole night was spent flipping between Fox news and CNN for the coverage. I must admit that they both seemed quite fair in their reporting last night, with a relatively small amount of personal opinion thrown in. Now, the numbers were different as far as who was more willing to call a state for each candidate, but that was to be expected. How was everyone else's view on the media coverage last night, or was I just out of my element?

Both FOX and NBC had already given Ohio to Bush making the total 269. Later, New Mexico was given to Bush by ABC and CBS--both of which had not yet awarded Ohio to Bush. However, Tom Brokaw could not bring himself to award NM to Bush -- thus re-electing him. NONE of the networks would make the move over the 270 mark -- just couldn't stand the idea I guess. I LOVED it!

It was refreshing to see network and cable hold off on their usual biased "Projections" and comment as compared to 2000 media fiasco. I noticed only Dan Rather tryed to "scoop" other networks with premature projections. That Smuck never learns.
Fox seemed like they tried to be unbiased (and almost succeeded)...CNN didn't seem so concerned...they kept focusing on how Kerry could win Ohio, long after the outcome was 96% reported...just seemed like they were holding on to hope...and hiding behind the FLA fiasco in 2000...even though it was 100,000 vote difference rather than a few hundred...and why did they have Larry King on there, poor guy looked dejected?
All in all it seemed like the media from day 1 wanted to make this into a closer race than it turned out to be...just goes to show how out of touch they can be with the population....

I saw them as very slanted towards Kerry for all the forementioned reasons. Fox usually is the only network that pretty much stays unbiased. You can bet for sure had the numbers been in favor of Kerry, they'd been prematurily projecting the outcome big time.....BIG TIME.
Major Networks seemed pretty biased as usual. Fox tried to be unbiased and had the best stats available and info available. They were head and shoulders above the major networks.

I only watched CNN last night for a while. I think that the reason that they would not call Ohio is only a addvertising and ratings game. The longer they held off the longer more people would hange on to get the "offical word". It is not about the news or there political views, it is about the money!
