While watching CNN for their "unbiased" reporting of the election results (Judy Woodruff was almost in tears when she reported Florida for Bush), James Caravelle made a very interesting and I believe, true statement. "The Democratic Party will need to do some great introspection and discussion about the future of the party, and I fear there will be a bloodletting within our party."
The Democratic Party cannot hold a pro world and Anti-American Agenda, and just "debate" by calling the opposition a liar, or just shouting down the opposition, or just keep repeating the same spin over and over until they think that people believe that viewpoint to be true. The only position that unified the Democratic Party was hating Bush.
If you look at the map of the electoral college it is clear what the problem in these United States is. The majority of the landmass and population is being controled and taxed to support the problems and agenda of the NE, Great Lakes, and the Left Coast. If needs or problems occur in these areas, the rest of the country should not be penalized. There is a division in our US, it is between Major Population centers, and the rest of the United States.
There is time for a clear evaluation of what is really going on. The media missed. The national Democratic Party missed it. Academia missed it. CBS and CNN missed it. THe LA ands NY times missed it.
Karl Rove DEPENDED and CAPITOLIZED on it, and the results speak for themselves.
Carville is right. The Demos do need to rethink and regroup. They have alienated too much of their base by pandering to an extreme minority in their party. Now they need to decide just who they are and what they really stand for?
