No harm, no foul. Since his kid wasn't harmed, about all anyone can really do w/o overstepping bounds is say something like "That's dangerous. I'd never do that."
Where do you stop? Take kids from low income parents who are known to trade food stamps for menthol cigs and subject their children to 2nd hand smoke while beating them?
