Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default All the monies that could do more!!!!

All the monies that the 527 and the parties are spending on ads could do so much more.

What would you spend the money on to improve this country?
How would it be viewed in comparison to the ads and why?

I'd spend it on adult education for the unemployed and the under employed.
Job trianing and placement. Think of all the people who could be trianed or have their existing fields improved or career path redirected to a more likely path to success. This would be a on going program not something done only in election years.

Not a government handout. Something run by the party or the supporters of the party with the money now spent on so many ads. It could be funneled into existing programs that are in place and have a proven track record. Handled like scholarships. The recipent would be aware of the sponsor and know who is offering the helping hand.
Those that recieved the help would be sure to know where it came from and that would help the party and show that the party was truely interested in the people. Deeds speak louder than works.

As far as campaign ads and monies for the campaign, stictly set amounts equally given to all parties that qualify.

Less BS on the airways and monies more carefully spent on hopefully truthful ads.

How would you do it?

Logs it sounds great, but then look at all the political dirt bags it would put into the unemployment lines.

Thanks for the laugh. The irony of suggesting adult education in such a fashion.

This is sort of like saying that if we spent 10% of what we spend waging war on fighting world hunger then hunger would cease to exist . It's a nice thought , and probably true , but it ain't gonna happen . Spending other folks money is just too popular a sport for politicians . [&o]

If the money were going to something noble, do you think the donors would still give it? George Soros, for example, is handing out tons of cash just because of his hatred for Bush. Those feelings surely exist on both sides.

If all these people were told that their contributions would really be going to worthy causes, you would be deafened by the sound of wallets and purses slamming shut!

Kevin 1, I don't think that is what Im saying and if it comes across that way it is not my intent. Im not suggesting a cure for the problems with the political system, just "what or how " could the money be spent better. A change from the current way of spending but not really a cure.

Etothepii, unfortunatley you are more than likely correct for the current contributors. I have always been considered a cynical bastard by those that know me well. But even I think that a change can be made if the right people are involved. It would not be over night but things can change. It is times like these when we are so divided that opportunity for change can make a difference. I don't think the likes of George Soros would do anything noble but there are many others out there who opened their wallets for other causes that makes up for the like of Soros.

Maybe pie in the sky but just a thought.

Charity has done more good for more people than any amount of taxation or redistribution of wealth. I think we could all take care of each other if we were motivated, and didn't have to worry about taxes.
