Default Heinz-Kerry: 1st Lady Had no "Real World" Job Experience

Mrs. Kerry Remarks on First Lady
Wednesday, October 20, 2004

"Heinz Kerry Has No Regrets Over Comments"Heinz Kerry Reports Nearly $2.3M Income"

WASHINGTON " Teresa Heinz Kerry (search) says she doesn't know if first lady Laura Bush (search) has ever had "a real job" and suggests their different experiences help make them different people.

Laura Bush taught in public schools in Texas from 1968 to 1977, the year she married George W. Bush.

In an interview published Wednesday in USA Today, the newspaper asked the wife of Democratic candidate John Kerry if she would be different from Laura Bush as a first lady.

"Well, you know, I don't know Laura Bush. But she seems to be calm, and she has a sparkle in her eye, which is good," Heinz Kerry said. "But I don't know that she's ever had a real job " I mean, since she's been grown up. So her experience and her validation comes from important things, but different things."

Heinz Kerry said she sees her age as a benefit " she is 66 and Bush 57. "I'm older, and my validation of what I do is a little bit bigger " because I'm older, and I've had different experiences. And it's not a criticism of her. It's just, you know, what life is about," she said.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So...if school teaching doesn't equal "real life job experience" and inherting into a billion dollar company for doing absolutely nothing does...

I guess no one on this MB or no one I know, has ever had a "real" job experience.

Even if someone isn't absolutely repulsed by the idiot of a presidential candidate named "John F. Kerry", how can they not be repulsed by his wife, who is so much worse then he is (if that is possible)?

And how would Heinz be different from the 1st lady? I can think of many things, but the main one that stands out is...that the USA's 1st lady, the greatest nation in the world, would have someone telling people to "F*** Off" all the time...

Very ladylike, very 1st ladylike, and what more could people want, when it comes to a role model for their country, and their children?

Like being a gold digger is a real job. She married that money, she did not earn it.

Did you see the name listed on her tax forms? Teresa Heinz. But I know she truly loves her current husband. I can just see the twinkle in their eyes when they look at each other.

Incidentally, did anyone hear the clip of her interview on 'The View'? She said she sees Kerry about "once a week, for two seconds".

Now I don't think family values is the most important issue today, and I'm voting for Bush anyway, but I absolutely cannot imagine having a President and First Lady who are engaged in a business contract barely disguised as marriage. I guess I just know what it's like to be in love with THE one and only woman, and the Heinz-Kerry's lack of emotion really disturbs me on a non-political, personal level.

Very classy comment coming from that Beotch. Laura Bush has more class in her pinky then Heinz has in her entire body.

Even assuming Laura Bush didn't teach children for 10 years, Teresa Heinz Kerry by making that comment is saying that raising 2 children isn't a "real job". Great message to be sending to the mothers in our country.

What a Crock ! She was trying to damage our First lady's credibility to get votes 10 days before election and it failed miserably !

BTW - only when Kerry decided to run did she take " Kerry " as her last name.

CNN) -- Teresa Heinz Kerry apologized Wednesday for telling USA Today that she was unsure if first lady Laura Bush had ever held a "real job."

Heinz Kerry said she was "sincerely sorry" for the remark.

"I had forgotten that Mrs. Bush had worked as a schoolteacher and librarian, and there couldn't be a more important job than teaching our children," Heinz Kerry said. "As someone who has been both a full time mom and full time in the workforce, I know we all have valuable experiences that shape who we are. I appreciate and honor Mrs. Bush's service to the country as first lady, and am sincerely sorry I had not remembered her important work in the past."

In an interview published in USA Today Wednesday, Heinz Kerry was asked about the differences between the first lady and herself.

"Well, you know, I don't know Laura Bush. But she seems to be calm, and she has a sparkle in her eye, which is good. But I don't know that she's ever had a real job -- I mean, since she's been grown up. So her experience and her validation comes from important things, but different things."

She added, "And I'm older, and my validation of what I do and what I believe and my experience is a little bit bigger -- because I'm older, and I've had different experiences. And it's not a criticism of her. It's just, you know, what life is about."

Laura Bush earned a bachelor of science degree in education from Southern Methodist University in 1968 and a master of library science degree from the University of Texas in 1973. Between 1968 and 1977, she taught in public schools in Dallas and Houston and was a librarian in Austin.

Karen Hughes, a senior Bush campaign adviser, called Heinz Kerry's remarks "inappropriate."

"I think it's very nice that she apologized, but in some ways the apology almost made the comment worse because she seems to have forgotten that being a mother is a real job," Hughes told CNN. "I think it's just unfortunate to try to disparage women who have made the choice of making their families a priority."

Born in Mozambique, Heinz Kerry worked for the Trusteeship Council of the United Nations in the 1960s when she moved to the United States. She has also been the chairman of The Howard Heinz Endowment and the Heinz Family Philanthropies since her first husband, Sen. John Heinz, died in a plane crash in 1991.

Heinz Kerry has three sons and two step-daughters. The first lady has two daughters.

Oh...it ain't that bad is it? I mean, have been through" business contract diguised as a marriage" before...Clinton ring a bell? Anyone...any takers?

Funny, most Republican presidents seem to legitimately love their wives more often then not, dem's on the other hand, seem like they just have "arrangements" and use their marriages for political gain.
