Been on a long term Euopean trip from England to France. Boy us Americans are so lucky. This is the greatest country. Guns and hunting are almost non existent compared to over here. Gas prices are 6dollars/gallon, a basic crap lunch in France is 10Euro, or 13 dollars. High Unemployment around 12%. Crap apartment is like 2K-3K a month. Rained every day. Screw that place. I used to go all the time over there for business, but more and more its tiring. I finally got into a honest discussion with the French guys working for my company. I always thought it was good hearted joking between America and France. But these people want us to fall. These people hate us. There biggest book going over there right now is this book about Bush, saying "The secrets, the lies, the power, the plan to take over France" from my broken translation. They (my companies guys) kiss my arse, cause they don't want to lose their jobs, but I asked them to talk freely. They were telling me somebody blew up a McDonalds in Brittany, France to show they didn't want American Imperialism in Brittany. They accidenttly ended up killing some french woman. They couldn't really tell me why they hated America so much, other than its what they have been taught their whole life, and we seem to succeed alot and rub thier noses in it. Other than that, they looked at each other, and said, "we like America".

A hearty AMEN to that!!! I'm really not surprised by their attitude. I found the same attitude in Italy when I was in the Navy and went on a Med cruise back in the 70s.
I post on several forums that have international membership. I have seen alot of posters from France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Norway, balkan states, and Spain, and the general theme is they hate us, they hate our lifestyles,hate our culture, hate our freedoms, and want us to fail. I don't know if this is a fuction of the internet draws this type of people out, or if its a good sampling of the general attitude- it seems to be much of both.

I've gotten to the point where I could care less what the Euro-trash thinks. The exist because we allow them to. It's a damn good thing I'm not the president because I might "accidentally" sice a missle or two toward Paris. Those who hate America are simply jealous. They want what we have and they hate us because we have it. We work hard, take care of the business, and are a very benevolant superpower, we deserve what we have. No doubt our alliance with Isreal has kept us in God's good grace.
No wonder they hate us, our hate for them is just as strong.
I don't think we hate them at all, at least I don't. I think they are arrogant, especially the French, and tend to be elitist and socialistic. But I do not hate them. While elitism and socialism seem to be contradictory terms, it seems both attitudes are prevalent in the writings of their journalists and the words of their leaders when they speak.

BTW , unless my grasp of history fails me , everytime they have a big war or potato famine over there where is the first place they run to ? It sure ain't Argentina ...

Big Ditto on kevin1 post. Europe is having a hard time not being the focus of the world anymore. The fact is, compared to the USA, France has the status of a third world country and they don't like it. America is the heartbeat and life blood of the world, and Europeans don't like playing second fiddle. Too bad for them. The time has come for the USA to spread freedom and democracy around the globe and rid this world of all the dictatorships and radical governments that we can, using whatever means we can to accomplish that goal. We are the wealthest and most powerful empire in all the history of mankind, we should be emulated, not hated.
What's sad is so many Americans (read liberals generally) buy into this anti-American crap and conspiracy theories and actively assist these foreigners in publicly condemning America. It's pathetic that some Americans have such low self (or American) esteem that they seek approval and endorsement of the French or any other country's citizens.
If anybody thinks logically for just 5 minutes, they would realize that America absolutely does not want to "take over France." We kicked the Germans out of France twice in the last century and both times gave France immediately back to the French. No strings attached, here ya go, we're gettin' outta here. France has a huge problem with unemployment, high inflation and we still have better wine. Why would any reasonable American want to "take over France?" Simple answer, NO WAY!!
If you think America has secret imperialistic ambitions, just ask Puerto Rico how easy it is to get America to "take them over." They've been trying to become the 51st state for years and we keep saying no way. We don't want to offer them our SSN, welfare and many other expenses we would take on by making them a state. America does not want any more states and has no intention of establishing an empire. They cost too much to maintain and when you get right down to it, we just don't want to pay for somebody else's welfare bums.
Now if we could divide California into a Northern and Southern California....Sigh, it would be so nice.

Its just Jealousy and nothing more. They are in a world of hurt because of their taxation and social programs. They are now faced with an aging population, high unemployment and lots of immigration from third world nations and nothing to pull them out of it unless they cut their programs. Sound Familiar?. I am sure the French are the worst of the offenders. Have hated us and anyone else from day one. Why we bother with anything they say or do is beyond me. They should be our staunchest allies for what we have done for them but you can't remove stripes from a Tiger. The French will be French. Did I mention they suck?.
