Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Interesting article about "the politics of Cabela's"

Check out this article on MSNBC on the internet....

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6201155/

{brief snippet from the site}
Is there any way to typify the Cabela's customer?

"I think people that hunt and fish and believe the phrase, "˜Under God"™ belongs in the Pledge of Allegiance," says Callahan.

When candidates are told to go after the Cabela's voters, who are they?

"I would say they are probably more middle-of-the-road, God-fearing people. They are conservative by nature," says customer Jim Szep.

"œFor me, a lot of it is spending time in the outdoors, and just enjoying all of God's beauty out there," adds customer Jenny Olsen.

So, it"™s no surprise that President Bush has visited two Cabela's. Vice President Dick Cheney held a town meeting in one and the Kerry campaign is considering a future event.
{end of snip}

I get a kick out of that paragraph... "Kerry campaign if considering a future event...." Yeah right, NOT!! Do you honestly believe Kerry knows what Cabela's is? Do you think he's ever been in one or even seen their catalogs? I've said it before and I'll say it again, "WHAT A POSER"!!!! [:@]

That was a neat article - I started salavating when I watched the video - What an incredible store. I've never made my way to one, but I cherish their catalogs like a christmas present... LOL... I've been to Bass stores, but that Cabela's looks like it blows them away! I'm glad presidential canditates are starting to view sportsman of a viable voting population - especially considering the amount of money we pump into the economy every year.

Thanks for sharing Coastie.

100 million catalogs per year. Too bad that Bush didn't have som advertising or at least some kind of insert going out with these catalogs.

I saw that spot on MSNBC. It was intersting. If Kerry or Edwards asked to do what Cheney did, I think they should be turned down, on the basis of their Anti-gun votes. I don't know if that would be legal, or if it would violate the equal time thingy.

That would be a good idea, except that it would probably be against the company's interests to start campaigning on behalf of the President. Paying customers are golden, whether Republican or Democrat.

Maybe the business climate would be better under Bush, but in four years who knows what we'll end up with. They need to hold onto all of their customers today in order to be successful tomorrow.

Cabela's is NOT what it used to be. Once they started opening up warehouses in Michigan and other places, they went from being the bread and butte of Sydney Nebraska to being a big corporation and it shows in their customer service AND prices. I shop Sierra Trading Post, Sportman's Warehouse, and Bass Pro Shops as much as I can now and avoid Cabela's. Too bad for them too cause I am a real gearhound
