Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Its hard to say. Through history people have tended to ignore stupid laws. No class of firearms are responsible for crime so it would not be a popular law to anyone with any common sense.

I will agree it would be a stupid law.

I would say there would not be that many hard core gun/political informed people turing thers in.

I am thinking more of the so called avarge gun owner.

Where they actual own but seldom use guns. Maybe they just own 1 or 2.

My faterin law comes emdilty to my mind. He has a few guns. But in the 8 years I have known the man he has not shot one of them.

My gut feeling is that if a law were passed, gun shops around the country would sell out of every semiauto within a few hours.

Remember there's a big, thick, distict line between banning firearms and actually confiscating them. Fullauto and select fire firearms were banned in 1984, no more of them can be legally made for sale in the US, but you can still buy them for about 1000% of their original price.

What will happen is that the liberals will wear you down to the point where its too much of a hassle to own them anymore. They'll start with a $10 registration fee for owning a SA, after you take the bait, they own you. They'll raise the price of registration to $500 or maybe $1000 per piece per year, add on a bunch of absurd and expensive storage rules, and have government agencies audit your wares at very inconvenient times.

Now you can take the tact of not registering your guns, but in some states, such as Illinois, New York, mass, and Cali, gun owners have already submitted to this and are beyond help.

If that sad day would happen many of us would choose to become criminals, and keep our guns! That is really irrelevent though! The real point is, that many who scoff that guns will ever be banned, or claim that they would never give them up even if they were banned, are also the ones who don't spend a dime or an ounce of personal effort to belong to good Second Amendment organizations like the NRA!
If we as gun owners were more involved with the fight to KEEP our rights, with our money, time, and our votes, we will never have to fear gun bans or heavy gun taxes!
It is really a crying shame that as gun owners we are 80+ million strong, and only about 4 million of us are NRA members! The NRA is one of the strongest lobby groups in America, with only 4 million members! Imagine how strong we would be with 40 million members! We'd never hear a peep from another anti-gun politician again!
Lastly, when guns are banned, if we choose to keep them, we will be criminals! You will have to put up or shut up, because it could really come down to someone "prying them from our cold, dead hands!"
At the very least, if they are banned, and we keep them, even IF there is no effort to confiscate them, realize this, you won't be able to take them out, and go hunting , or go out to the range and shoot them! You won't even be able to display them, for fear of being ratted out by a neighbor, or even a family member!
Wouldn't it be much easier, and even less expensive to be an avid supporter of our Second Amendment NOW, than to have to choose to be a criminal later?!

Don't forget they have been going after some gun ranges too. If people can't shoot their guns somewhere then all they become are wallhangers.
I'm glad I don't have any guns anymore so I don't have to turn any in. I will continue though to fight for YOUR Right to Keep and Bear Arms.
