Oil for food scam's conflict of interest for Russia and France
The oil for food scam benefitted Russia and France to the tune of billions of dollars, not to mention their secret arms deals with Iraq in violation of sanctions, and their tens of billions in oil deals with Iraq before we went in. Why doesn't Bush hammer these conflicts of interest over and over? Those countries voted "no" in going in to protect the secrecy of the scams and secret military sales and oil deals. They didn't vote on what was the right thing to do, which is the UN enforcing its resolutions. Kerry wants our national security to be subordinated to France and Russia's own economic interests, and that is unacceptable!!! Also, he says he will kill our development of nuclear bunker busters. He even voted to unilaterally DISARM during the cold war, and has always voted against every major weapons system we now have. He doesn't only want to take your guns away, he wants to take away our ability to defend this country!
RE: Oil for food scam's conflict of interest for Russia and France
To be honest, I have no idea why Bush isn't pressing this point. I can only imagine that he's trying to gain the support of moderates who don't see the UN for what it is. Why any freedom-loving American would favor a socialistic international bureaucracy rife with political corruption and military incompetence is beyond me. It's clear that France and Russia only care about serving themselves, regardless of the life and liberty of others around the world (their own citizens included.
We know where Kerry stands on the UN, but I certainly would like to hear Bush comment more directly and strongly about the fallacies of multilateral action in today's global environment.
