I found this on the Drudge site.Jimmy Swaggert back in the news. I guess it's ok to have sex with prosititutes but if a gay man were to look at him "like that" he sya's I'm going to kill him and tell God he died.
Quote:
Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart apologized Wednesday for saying in a televised worship service that he would kill any gay man who looked at him romantically.
A complaint was filed with a Canadian broadcasting group, and Swaggart said his Baton Rouge-based Jimmy Swaggart Ministries has received complaints from gay groups over the remarks made on the Sept. 12 telecast.
In the broadcast, Swaggart was discussing his opposition to gay marriage when he said "I've never seen a man in my life I wanted to marry."
"And I'm going to be blunt and plain: If one ever looks at me like that, I'm going to kill him and tell God he died," Swaggart said to laughter and applause from the congregation.
On Wednesday, Swaggart said he has jokingly used the expression "killing someone and telling God he died" thousands of times, about all sorts of people. He said the expression is figurative and not meant to harm.
"It's a humorous statement that doesn't mean anything. You can't lie to God -- it's ridiculous," Swaggart told The Associated Press. "If it's an insult, I certainly didn't think it was, but if they are offended, then I certainly offer an apology."
Audio recordings of the Sept. 12 statements have circulated on gay-themed Web sites.
One complaint was sent to the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council, a self-regulating industry group that enforces broadcast standards, after a Toronto television station broadcast the service, said Ann Mainville-Neeson, the group's executive director.
Cheryl Jacques, head of the Washington, D.C.-based Human Rights Campaign, which represents homosexuals, bisexuals and transgendered people, said Swaggart should preach equality for all Americans.
"Apologies don't discourage violence -- action does. We hope that he takes action," Jacques said. "His language only encourages an environment where hate crimes occur."
Swaggart was a popular television evangelist during the 1980s until a 1987 sex scandal involving a prostitute that he met in a seedy New Orleans motel. Swaggart never confessed to anything more than an unspecified sin. A few years later, he was stopped by police while driving in California with a suspected prostitute in his car.
Maybe it would be ok with him if it were a gay prostitute. We have any Swaggert fans in the house?

I'm not a fan of any of those types. I personally don't believe in organized religion of any kind. The god that I believe in does not need 10% of my salary off the top. Just my opinion.
He needs to take immediate action! If I were gay, I"™d be contacting the DA and asking them to bring him up on charges!
This IS America, and we are all welcome to our opinions. However, an influential person like Swaggert suggesting that it is, or would be OK to kill is definitely wrong.
Islamic terrorists kill because they don"™t agree with our beliefs. If any homosexual is murdered and the guilty party says "śSwaggert said "¦.."ť, then in my mind he is responsible.
Yes, I am comparing Swaggert to the likes on Bin Laden, Bin Laden didn"™t actually kill anyone in the US on 9/11, but he incited it. Swaggert is doing the same, and he needs to get back on TV and retract the whole thing or he is no better.

I would have to agree with JS on this one - KILL EM ALL!!!! For anyone to be different than me might be grounds alone for death! There would never be a way to help people see the light or the truth anyway, so just kill them!
Of course I'm kidding CP. You know that. I find it mildly amuzing. I think it's sad that people like Swaggart have built up such a following and then blundered so hard in the eye's of people who are so cynical of religion and anything to do with God. Of course, they are only human too, afterall. But, they do have a powerful impact on people be it good or bad. We are talking about him, no?
And bnh, chill dude. The likes of Bin Laden? That's a little over the edge there don't you think? This is a guy that made a mistake or two. I'm sure you've made more than two mistakes in your life, yes? I'm not sticking up for the guy, but I think it's a bit of a stretch to compare him to bl. JMO though.

If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a civilization, it expects what never was and what never will be.
This is certainly not Christianity. My God is compassionate and forgiving, not hateful and unreasonable. What an idiot, prostituting God's name for the good of some ridiculously archaic agenda.
Jimmy Swaggert shouldn't even be preaching, let alone making the inflammatory comments that he made. In essence he is saying it is okay for a female prostitute to look at me, but not a male/gay prostitute. Man this guy is sick.
I hate to tell him, but he doesn't know God very well. God knew he was going to make the statement BEFORE he made it and if he was to actually carry out his threat, God would know he was going to do it BEFORE he did it so he wouldn't have to worry about whether he was going to tell God or not. As a "man of God", he doesn't know very much about God's characteristics, i.e., He is Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnipresent!!
