Default Getting to know the other political board members

We have been posting here for years, and to be honest, other than our political views, we know very little about each other.

So this is just a thread to reveal more about each other than just where we stand on political issues.

So What is your favorite Clint Eastwood movie? Mine is either Heartbreak Ridge, or Honkey Tonk Man.

Who is your favorite NASCAR driver? Mine is Tony Stewart

What is your favorite type of game to hunt? Although I love to archery hunt for deer, Spring gobbler hunting is my favorite, followed closely by rabbit hunting with my beagles.

How big is your largest Buck ever? Mine is a 172 B/C 13pt killed in 84 I was 12yrs old.

What gun or bow means the most to you? Mine is an 870 12Ga. that my father gave me at age 7. Next to that I would have to say the Mossburg 835 I won at the Wv state Turkey calling championships

What is your fondest hunting memory? The first day my father ever took me squirrel hunting. I was 7yrs old, and my father really became not just a dad, but my friend that day.

If you guys can think of anything else, feel free to add them.

So What is your favorite Clint Eastwood movie? The Good, the Bad, & the Ugly.

Who is your favorite NASCAR driver? Minor Nascar fan here.....but being a native Hoosier I'll name Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon.

What is your favorite type of game to hunt? Whitetail deer with bow.

How big is your largest Buck ever? 154 1/8" gross with bow.

What gun or bow means the most to you? Ithica model 37-20gauge that Dad gave me for my 16th birthday.

What is your fondest hunting memory? My first deer with a bow. Got an 8 point the first season I bowhunted. Back then there wasn't as many deer, but it was much easier to find places to hunt.

So What is your favorite Clint Eastwood movie? I haven't seen one that I haven't liked, Unforgiven is great.

Who is your favorite NASCAR driver? Don't like NASCAR. Hope that doesn't make me an outcast.

What is your favorite type of game to hunt? Rabbit. (Beagles a plus, but I don't have my own.)
How big is your largest Buck ever? Haven't gotten a buck yet.

What gun or bow means the most to you? My grandpa's 16 guage Model 12 Winchester.

What is your fondest hunting memory? When I got my first (and only) deer at age 14. My cousin (6' 4", 250 lbs...) picked me up in a huge bear hug and gave a "yee haa" that echoed through the woods.

Any Clint Eastwood movie is good, NASCAR: Dale SR was now its JR, i love to bowhunt. i like the illinois gun season because the deer are pressured into moving more and the range that you can reach out to, but i like the quietness of bowhunting. i like to quail hunt w my cousins. ive never tried turkey hunting. i just started hunting 9 yrs ago, but i have 2 favorite memories> a very close encounter with the biggest 10 pointer that ive ever seen myself (not on TV or magazines). the other is my first bowkill

So What is your favorite Clint Eastwood movie? I haven't seen a Clint movie in a while. My favorite movie is probably Jaws.

Who is your favorite NASCAR driver? Don't watch Nascar. I take in an occasional Eagles game but don't have a favorite player.

What is your favorite type of game to hunt? Whitetail deer. Although I hunt with a bow, my favorite is rifle season. I love my rifles and am a handloader.

How big is your largest Buck ever? 120" 8 pointer in 2000.

What gun or bow means the most to you? A tie between a .30-06 Sako Finnbear hand-me-down from my dad and a .300 Weatherby I saved up for and bought myself. I had been drooling over the 300 Wby since reading about their awesome power when I was a kid.

What is your fondest hunting memory? My dad's face when he came over the hill and saw me dragging a Pennsylvania black bear. Also when my dad helped me find my first deer. I was afraid we would never find it. He assured me we would find it. I'm not sure if he had his doubts or not but he wouldn't tell me that. He probably would have searched for days. We found it and he got it mounted for me. It was a doe, too.

I also love to saltwater fish (just like John Kerry. I love spending time on my boat out in the ocean. The perfect day has us up at 3:00am so we can troll, chum and do a little bottom fishing on the way in. We plan our vacations around fishing. The Florida Keys and the Bahamas are great for this. It's a good thing everyone likes mahi mahi for dinner. That gets me more fishing time.

Any old "spagetti western" from Clint Eastwood. They are all great.

Who is your favorite NASCAR driver?
Uh, sorry.... I don't do NASCAR. I mean, sorry, I just don't get into it. I mean no harm, but I don't see the point in watching race cars go around and around
...and around
...and around
...and around
etc..etc..etc..etc... ad infinum....
I have watched (and seen up close) the NHRA top fuel dragsters at Heartland Park, Topeka, KS. Me and a few buddies got in and helped work for a guy who knew a guy.... We hauled beer kegs to the pits and to the executive suites. I met Eddie Hill up close in person and talked to him too. Cool guy, but he was more interested in the cute li'l thing hanging on his arm, if you know what I mean.

What is your favorite type of game to hunt?
#1 Deer. #2 Turkey. #3 Ducks/Geese.

How big is your largest Buck ever?
I haven't gotten one (yet). [&o]

What gun or bow means the most to you?
Hmmm.... Probably my dad's old 1953 H&R Model 923 .22 revolver. Since he passed away, I have the old pistol now and treasure it. The story goes, he was in San Antonio, TX on an IBM business trip in 1953. He stopped into a Drug Store(!) that had firearms on display, and saw the .22 revolver. They gave him some ammo and told him to try it out back at some old paint cans. He liked it as a small plinker, and believe it or not, he bought it for $25 bucks - no background check, no waiting period, no anything. He even flew home on the airplane with it back in 1953!!!!!

What is your fondest hunting memory?
Probably last season when I finally (FINALLY) got a successful kill. I was duck/goose hunting with some friends on Lake Anna, VA and a pair of ducks came in 12:00 high. The guys told me "take 'em", and when the pair were just about to land on the water, I reached out with my Remington 870 12GA and with two shots, I had two ducks! Then later, a big flock of geese came in and (I forgot to switch ammo), but I got a goose but crippled it. One of the other guys followed after me and finished it with a 3" magnum BB shell. It was freezing cold, but it was fun!

I don't have any hunting memories with my dad or uncles, because I was the baby of my family.... You know how it goes... My dad and uncles all hunted in the 50's and 60's. When it was time for me to come of age, they had all given it up. [&o] I had nobody to teach me, show me, take me "under their wing" as the saying goes. I have all you people on this forum to help me, and I really appreciate it!! [8D]

What is your fondest hunting memory?
My second year of deer hunting. I was sitting on my stand which was a large tree that had uprooted and fell over leaving a large root system that made an excellent rest and was good cover. I was sitting there and out of the corner of my eye about 150 yards off I saw what looked like a very big dog running toward me. After I realized it was a Black Bear I raised my rifle as he continued to run past my stand. I held the scope on him until I could not longer see it. At 13 years old I was scared and I wasn't taking any chances. Later in the day when I told my dad and grandfather they didn't beleive me until I showed them the tracks about 50 yards from my stand. I have never seen another bear while deer hunting since then.

Fight you wanna hear something funny? I was always a huge Mark Martin fan, but once Stewart came along, I just liked his attitude, and aggressive driving. Still a huge Martin fan, just like Stewart a little more.

I don't really have a favorite Eastwood movie, or nascar favortie, but I'm truly possessed with spring gobbler hunting. I like deer hunting don't get me wrong but it won't even come close to the spring time gobble.

I have'nt ever killed a real monster of a buck , probably around the 125 mark, but he was pretty heavy, not bad for Southern Mo.

My most memorable hunt would about have to be the morning my son killed his first deer, not a monster but a decent 7 point, it was the first time I had ever let him stand by himself while hunting, I walked about 40 acres of brush and treetops out trying to jump one over him and luckily I did, he killed it as it crossed a logging road, He just had to miss the rest of school that day LOL, I bet I hauled that buck a 100 miles just to show it off.

The last deer hunt with my dad would be a close 2nd though, he came to my place that year and had a great time, he had never hunted much before on my place and did'nt know the land real well, to make a long story short, he still had'nt arrived back to camp by about 11 that morning and we was starting to get a little worried about him, finally we saw him coming, he was dragging a deer and just about totally exhausted, after him telling us where the exact spot he was hunting, I had to laugh, we could have drove the old jeep within a few yards of where he had killed it, and he had been dragging on it since about 8:00 that morning, That afternoon , we loaded up in the jeep and drove him to about 50 yards of the stump he was sitting on. I will never forget either hunt.

Favorite Clint Eastwood movie: Any of them, but Lonsome Dove is my favorite all-time western

I don't like Nascar, NHRA is more my style. Bernstein, and John Force! Big Daddy Don Garlits is my all-time favorite!

Favorite gane to hunt: Whitetail deer, Whitetail deer, and Whitetail deer!
Largest was a nine point, 120 class.

Favorite guns: Winchester M70 7MM RM, and Ruger Super Redhawk .44 mag.

Fondest hunting memory: After getting to my stand way too late, rocking back and forth in a steady cold wind, thinking that I'd see nothing, I decided to just thank God for a beautiful day, and enjoy the scenery, when my big 9 pointer walks under my stand from out of nowhere!
