If you were in charge of the United States. You commander and chief, what would you do in Iraq right now? The same? Anything differant?
Personally I would like to have seen us go in and take out Al-sader. The man bargined out of the Mosck(SP?) with the promise he would have an oppertunity to join to Iraqi gov. council. Personally I think this is a big mistake. We got rid of one extremeist in Hussein, why allow another to rise to power? Also I believe he has been made out to be a hero by the extremeist in Iraq for standing up to America (as they see it) And getting his way.
He will either rot away at the new Gov. or he will be held up in another Mosck with another weapons stockpile before long. Daring the US to come in.
I just think until the new Iraqi Gov. can control most of the security in their nation, they shouldnt be telling the US where we can and cant go.
GA if it was up to me , one daisy cutter on top and would have been end of problem. ALso let the world know that no place is sacred or safe for the likes of him and his ilk.

I know there is alot of Monday morning quarterbacking on the Iraq issue, I don't have an honest answer for your question. I do know that the current administration is doing everything they can. I don't for one second think that any of the people involved in getting the Iraqi's on track are slacking off or not trying their best. I think there are always things that we( armchair generals) think could be better , but we also don't have every little detail. And we certainly can't trust the media to show us all the good things, they just want to spread the word on the bad things that happen. The best thing about our Military is that we adapt very well and we are doing that as things change. If everything was scripted in war it would be easy. Unfortunately you can't always expect the other side to follow your exact plan. And terrorism isn't anything we've ever really dealt with before now, and if you say that there are no terrorists working in Iraq, I must remind you of Zarkawi and the scum bags beheading innocent people. Saddam Hussein was a terrorist to his own people and his sons were too. Maybe all the weapons haven't been located yet, but to not take action based on the intel we did have would have been irresponsible and could have been catastophic in the near future. If GW hadn't acted on the intel and waited the spin doctors would have hung him out to dry. With the liberals he would have done the wrong thing no matter what.

This is just what our government is up against now. No one really KNOWS what to do. Its a trial and error. A lot of people think they have the answers but it ain't there butt on the line and they don't have to suffer the results if they are wrong. Thats why its good that RUMMY and the boys are running the show. I would tend to do the old kill them all and let God sort them out. Its a good thing I quess that I am not running the show either.[:@]
Just one of the many reasons that I would not hold the office of president if it was give to me.
Them people don't know anything but fighting and war, and until we quit playing there little games and just do what we have to do to get whoever we need to get things will just keep going like they have.
One thing for sure though, we have the best there is seeing to the problem and it will be done one way or the other, if we can't handle it there is no use in calling anyone else.

I would hire advisors to give me advice. I would have military experts, financial experts, security experts, you name it. The reason? I have no idea how to handle something like this. I'm trying to toilet train my son and think that's a challenge. Trying to run a country and rebuild another one is a little more responsibility than I'd like to handle. One thing is for sure - it's a delicate situation and any simple solution ain't going to work. If it would, they would have done it already.
I'm no national military strategist, but I would first like to see our almost all of our forces in Europe rotated home and redeployed to Iraq. Then I think we need to start patrolling these hot zones regularly. Forget a seige, we need to hit these people on their own turf. Yes, it would be bloody, but the goal is to win. Pounding safehouses from the air isn't getting the job done fast enough.
I would also like to see more pressure placed on the Shi'ite militia leaders. They are puppets of Iran, and they are receiving money, weapons, and orders from Tehran. Al Qaeda is a threat, but so is Iran, more so now than ever. If Iran grabs control of Iraq after a civil war, we're in for twice as much work as before.
