Default A flip-flop on a very tough decision.

As most guys here know I am not one of the Clinton haters on the board. Other than his moral flaws, he was a very effective president, who did a pretty darn good job running the nation (MY OPINION.)

Now that being said you also know I voted for Al Gore in the last election, and as unhappy as I have been with alot of President Bush's actions, I was looking for a canidate to run against him that I could really support and get behind. Well to be honest, John Kerry is not it.

I have posted alot of anti-Bush threads with one reason in mind, to show that both men are going to be made out to be the devil by the respective media that happens to be reporting the op-ed piece.

I dont believe Bush, nor Kerry are bad men, in fact I consider both patriots, who want to see this nation do better than the generation before. I hate neither man, or even dislike them. In fact Bush has something down to earth about him you cannot deny.

I told everyone I would wait until the debates to make up my mind on a vote, well I am about to flip-flop. I consider myself an independant, but lean torward the democratic party of old, not the new one that has really emerged in the past 4yrs. I know it had its roots before that, but the past four years, the democratic party has moved alot further to the left. While at the same time the republican party has moved closer to the center.

While I still disagree with Bush on Stem cell research, and the right to choose, and even the way alot of the Iraq war was handled, I also disagree with him on alot of enviroment issues, but at least he has a real plan out there for everyone to see, like it or not.

Its not that I dont like John Kerry, but he has failed to offer any solutions, and only offers up, "I can do it better than Bush."

Thats not good enough for me.

Even though I will still Hold Mr. Bush's feet to the fire when I feel there is a reason, I will also be placing my vote for his second term in the upcoming election.

GA:

It takes a lot of courage to announce your decision as you have to a group which has been largely hostile to your postings. I respect you for this courage.

I don't think George Bush is the greatest thing since sliced bread, I just think he more closely supports my major care abouts: (1) support for the second amendment, (2) strong national defense, and (3) fiscal responsability. Now, while #3 is one of my major "care abouts", I grant that Bush's budgets haven't satistifed me in the fiscal responsability area. However, when I evaluate Kerry according to these three major care abouts, he fares more poorly than Bush. Even in the fiscal responsability area I don't have confidence that Kerry would improve upon Bush.

Anyway, thanks for posting your decision.

gobbler - good post. I question your sanity, but good post. Not sure why anyone would cast their vote to take guns away either - that actually blows me away (my opinion only of course ). As you and many out here more than likely know, the political arena on either side is drenched in deception with regard to what we every day Americans are supposed to know which I understand can cloud one's judgment at times. It is good to know where your vote is going.

GA,

I blocked your name because I felt you hadn't contributed anything worthy of discussion/debate in the 6 years or so I have been coming to this forum. When I saw the first response to your blocked post starting this thread, I unblocked your initial post so I could read it. I have now unblocked your name.

There's one other post of yours that I unblocked and read before this one, and it was the post on the "Where Was You on 9/11" thread started by F4YG. Great response!!

Bill

Wow, I am surprised! My problem with Bush is all the huge spending. I am not really happy with him either. Within 10 years, the fit will hit the shan due to the overwhelming national debt level. It is a darn shame and saddens me that our children will have to pick up the tab for such reckless spending, mostly for social programs, but also for the war and all the foreign subsidies to all those countries that hate us anyway.

GA, very well said. I hope alot of people on the fence will see that the better man to lead this county is our current President. There's alot I don't like about the president, i.e., immigration, his relationship with Pres. Fox of Mexico, and the fact that he hasn't tried to help our seniors more. But, overall, I think President Bush is a much better choice.
I think all the scoundrels like Michael Moore and Dan Rather that have just outright lied to help Kerry have turned alot of people off Kerry and onto Bush.
Also, I can never forgive Kerry for what he did after Vietnam. To me he will always be a traitor and owes our Vietnam era veterans a huge apology.

I try not to take anything on this board personal Lamb.

Doug, I really worry about the spending too, but Kerry wouldnt be any better in my honest opinion.

Either way we are screwed, but hopefully Bush will dig us out of the hole we are in.

I really hope so.

Holy Smokes!!! I always read your post because I enjoy heated political debate. It took a lot of Bahlz to post you're change of mind. I think everyone will commend you on that. I'm really curious to see if any of the Bush haters on the board will give you grief about this post. We have your back if they do.
