I just received this in an email from a friend. Does anybody subscribe to the Army Times? This might be an issue to save.

Wounded Vet Buys Full Page Of Army Times
This gentleman felt so strongly about this that he paid for a full page ad in the Sept 6th Edition of the Army Times.
By Dexter Lehtinen, an Army paratrooper and Ranger, severely wounded in 1971 while a reconnaissance platoon leader in Vietnam. He later graduated first in his class from Stanford Law School and later served as a Florida State Senator and the United States Attorney in Miami.

John Kerry & Vietnam
THE WOUNDS THAT NEVER HEAL
In 1971, I awakened after three days of unconsciousness aboard a hospital ship off the coast of Vietnam. I could not see, my jaws were wired shut, and my left cheekbone was missing, a gaping hole in its place.
Later, while still in that condition at St Albans Naval Hospital, one of my earliest recollections was hearing of John Kerry"™s testimony before Congress. I remember lying there, in disbelief, as I learned how Kerry told the world that I served in an Army reminiscent of Genghis Khans; that officers like me routinely let their men plunder villages and rape villagers at will; that war crimes" committed in Vietnam by my fellow soldiers "were not isolated incidents but crimes committed on a day-to-day basis with the full awareness of officers at all levels of command."
Then Kerry went to Paris, meeting with the North Vietnamese enemy officials, all while our soldiers still fought in the field. The pain and disbelief I felt listening to his words went deeper than the pain I felt from the enemy fire which seriously wounded my face.
Eighteen months later I was discharged from the hospital, the wounds inflicted by the enemy fully healed. But more than 30 years later, the wounds inflicted by John Kerry continue to bring pain to scores of Vietnam veterans. Those wounds--the bearing of false witness against me and a generation of courageous young Americans who fought and died in Vietnam--are much more serious than any wound warranting a Purple Heart. Those wounds go to the heart and soul. Those wounds never go away.
Today, my son is a Marine Corps weapons officer, flying the F/A 18 Hornet. He belongs to the same Marine Corps Kerry ridiculed with his 1971 book cover showing protestors simulating the Iwo Jima Memorial, raising an upside-down American flag. He flies the same F/A 18 fighter jet that Kerry voted against in the U. S. Senate. And today, Kerry"™s picture hangs in an honored place in Saigon"™s war museum, as a hero to the Vietnamese Communists.
Yet, John Kerry shamelessly drapes himself in the imagery of Vietnam, military service and the support of veterans devoid of any media scrutiny. Meanwhile, the criticism and disapproval of Kerry by scores of veterans continues to fall on deaf ears. Worse yet, any legitimate criticism of Kerry"™s post-war record is discredited as a "personal" attack or an attack against his service.
John Kerry is quick to surround himself with a handful of veterans and claims overwhelming support from the veteran community. He ignores, however the wounds he inflicted on millions of veterans, and he refuses to sign a waiver to release his military personal records and medical records. This is the portrait of a man who has failed to come to terms with his treacherous past.
I, Dexter Lehtinen, paid for this ad personally, without any connection to other individuals or groups, because I want the public to know what John Kerry did to our Vietnam veterans.
Join the rally on Sunday, September 12th to Expose John Kerry"™s Lies About Vietnam Vets. Hear from Vietnam Vets, POWs, B.G. Burkett (author of Stolen Valor), and others. 2:00 pm, Senate side of the Capitol, Washington D.C.

Cal, Great post! It was difficult for me to read as my eyes blurred with tears...still are. Doubt you will have a reply because truth is truth.
Again, excellent article.
GA, don't include GW Bush in this! While doing National Guard duty was not the most honorable service, it was what many thousands of people did back then!
Don't even try to equate that with Heinz-kerry's self-awarded medals, and then his dishonorable lies before Congress!
Heinz-kerry Afflicted, there is just no way you can put a good spin on Heinz-kerry, but for as hard as you try to, you should be on his or the DNC's payroll!

If your mother was an abortion proponent, would you be reading this right now?
Its a sad story. Bush and Kerry both did shameful things 35yrs ago.
No, sir. Now you're really off-base.
President George W. Bush served his country honorably in the Guard. You may not agree with his service in the Guard while thousands of his peers were going off to Vietnam. But he served honorably, he was discharged honorably and he has a sterling record in the Guard, despite the many attempts of the Democrats to prove otherwise.
There was nothing honorable about Kerry's service in Vietnam. The Republicans like to say that his service was admirable and that it is his post-war actions that we should criticize. Horse manure! There was nothing admirable about Kerry's service.
I have the pleasure of knowing a Navy commander who has served for just over 20 years. His tours have included Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. In his time as commander, do you know how many times he has had officers request a Purple Heart? Not one time. Not once. He says he has officers who are so injured that they lay unable to move for days on a hospital bed. Not only have none of those men requested a medal for their actions, many of them desperately wanted to rejoin their comrades in the line of fire. Kerry's actions are a slap in the face to men like that. Kerry's actions are a slap in the face to any service member who was injured in Vietnam.
While other men are seriously wounded and do not request purple hearts, Kerry did request a purple heart. He did it not once, not twice, but three times. And on none of those occasions did his injuries require hospitalization. Incredible! Not only that, but two of his injuries were self-inflicted and he lied about both of them. His third injury (rice in the rear) being especially fraudulent.
He lied about his injuries, he lied about where he was (Cambodia on Christmas Eve), he staged films of himself dressed in full combat gear and supposedly in combat, planning to use them for political purposes when he returned home . . . This man hardly served honorably.
And then he came home. He used superficial wounds to get out of Vietnam (and the Democrats have the nerve to try and say that Bush used his position to get out of the danger of Vietnam). He used superfiical wounds to get out of Vietnam, leaving behind his comrades - many of who were injured far more seriously than he was during those few months he was over there - to carry on the fight that he was too cowardly to fight. And when he gets home, instead of supporting those men who are fighting the fight he was too cowardly to fight, he turns on them like a rabid dog on its master. He makes up lies about them. Not just any lies, but the worst lies a person could possible conjure up. He tells the world that his brothers in uniform are raping innocent people, that they're murdering innocent people, that they're plundering and burning villages, and committing a wide variety of war crimes. Disgusting.
Please do not put my president in the same sentence as John Kerry when you're mentioning military service. President Bush deserves better. So does nearly anyone else who has ever donned the uniform of America's armed forces. Please do not try to drag my president down to the level of that lying, cowardly, deceitful, son of a whore that you guys are trying to dress up for president.
Now where's that little green 'ignore' button?

Ya know after reading Ben's post, my late dad was a lifer in the USAF, retired a Full Bird and would just love to be posting on our board. I'm sure he would have much to say.....as he missed nothing! He was a vet and would just love to slice and dice Kerry for exactly what he is.......a fake. JMO tho and we all know what those are like.
Look on the line above the name, and at the far right of the icons on a post of the person you want to block. Click the geen dot and you can IGNORE GA's posts just as I do now! After 6 years, I've finally come to the realization that he has NEVER had anything to contribute that is worth reading. He has the right to post, but likewise, I have the right to IGNORE his posts!!!
Insofar as the Army Times article, he is RIGHT ON. And I agree with whoever said it, DON'T ENDEAVOR TO BRING MY PRESIDENT "DOWN" TO THE LEVEL OF SLIMEBALL KERRY!!!!!
