Caddell: Dan Rather May Have Cost Kerry the Election

Longtime Democratic strategist Pat Caddell said Friday that if documents aired by CBS newsman Dan Rather Wednesday night turn out to be forged, as alleged by experts, the presidential race "is over."

"It would be the end of the race," Caddell told Fox News Live. "It would be the end of the race," he repeated.

"[Democratic officials are] so involved in this," the former Carter pollster worried. "They have gotten themselves so involved in this issue [in] the last 24 hours that somebody's going to, if they're not authentic, they're going to be blamed for it. It's incredible to me that they've gotten in this."
Caddell said he wasn't trying to sensationalize the issue, explaining that instead "I'm trying to save my party, you know, by telling the truth."

He said that forfeiting the presidential race would be the least of his party's problems if Democrats are tied to any forgery scandal.

"The race is over "“ and we've got bigger problems than that," he warned.

Perhaps some democrats will take their party back from the far left statists while there is something to salvage? This memo job is unraveling pretty fast & is showing to be a very amateurish & sloppy job.

Man, I don't know Whitehorse, look at what they think of Zell Miller, he is one of the few thats left in their party that has any common sense and they hate him almost as much as they do Bush.

After numerous books, a movie, and literally millions and millions of dollars they have spent on discrediting Bush and he still has a double digit lead in about every poll, looks like they would eventually wake-up and see that the truth would be the best way for them to go for awhile, {but it will take some time cause the truth right now about there party and what they stand for would prove to be as damaging as this fraudulent story}.

If this is proven to be a fraud it could be the straw that breaks the camel's back for the democrat party, if they don't come clean and change the way their party is run it could be an absolute disaster for them.

Like Caddell stated, if this is true then they have a lot bigger problem than just forfeiting a presidential election.

Now they're saying Zell was never a real Democrat.

Poor liberals. Zell was a Dem long before most of today's pundits were born! The Democratic party has left him.

Never a real Democrat! How quickly they forget that he was Clinton's point-man in the '93 convention.

Nope kerry was doomed from the start with his liberal voting record and his flip flops. The headline on this thread should be Rathers Career ended with a scandal and CBS goes down the tubes.

CBS and Dum Rather have proved once and for all that they are neither fair, nor unbiased!
The last I heard, Dum Rather was still saying that the 60 Minutes show was the honest-to-gosh truth!
The DNC, big news media, and Heinz-kerry are all sunk, in the same boat!
While they are all still maintaining that the story was the truth, some of them are saying that the Republicans knowingly fed them these "lies" as a setup!
Even if that were true, their admission of it, is just an admission that they are all dumber than dirt! Far too dumb to be trusted with the keys to our country!

If the memos are forged, it will be just a big black eye on CBS.

As far as the democratic party recovering in the event of scandals, if they were perpetrated by the party....it would recover eventually...........just as the Republican party recovered after the most infamous Watergate incident, which forced President Nixon to resign.

You know you may be right coug, since it is the democrat party it will probably be swept under the rug and forgetten about in a few short days, can you imagine what the media and liberals would do if the table was turned and this was happening to the repubilcan party instead of the libbie's.
