Default A question for the veterans.

If you where called up again to fight in this war on terror who would you rather be serving under? Who would you rather have for your Commander in Chief, President Bush or kerry?

If kerry wins would'nt you be just about afraid to do what needs to be done in a war, since kerry says he can run a more sympathetic war on terror LOL whatever that is, Would'nt you be afraid of getting accused by your C in C of dubious crimes such as murderers, baby killers, rapist, livestock killers, village burners, you know it has happened before. kerry is unfit, America don't need him at the helm.

I ain't a vet...but I'll respond anyways. Of course Bush would be my answer...but if I had to serve under Kerry...

I would be afraid that I'd be under UN control...

I probably wouldn't worry about fighting, because Kerry became against any kind of international conflict once he got home from Nam, except for Iraq, or maybe he was not for Iraq, or maybe he was? Anyways...

I'd also be afraid that I might get blown up walking around the US as civilian...because...God knows Kerry doesn't believe in killing bad guys.

Dad was enlisted for some years under your buddy Jimmy Carter, and then for the remainder under Reagan. Said there was a world of difference in how things were, and the morale of the troops.

Dad said, "Carter would say, 'This is the line in the sand, don't cross it.' The enemy would, and he'd just move the line back and say, 'This is the line again, don't cross i.' When Reagan went into office he'd say, 'This is the line, don't cross it. And when they did, he'd cut their foot off."

It'll be the same way this time if Kerry wins, except instead of military progress, we'll get some digression...or regression, or recession, or whatever the word is.

I am a sucker for talk radio. My dad is retired out of the Air Force. I have heard a lot of veterans talk on this issue, and I can honestly say that the only veterans I have heard whose stomach doesn't turn at the name of John Kerry, are the ones John Kerry drummed up.

I am a veteran. (well, okay, I was only what, 7-8-9 yrs old during the heyday of Vietnam?) I am talking 10 years later.... 1979. 1979 is when I decided to serve in the Coast Guard. A lot of people are funny with the Coast Guard - {what are they? who are they? they ain't under the DOD....etc...etc...etc...} But I served honorably and had a wonderful career. I joined when Carter was President, and served through Reagan, Bush, the Gulf War - to which I got a National Defense Service Medal and Ribbon for doing nothing but work on computers and process payroll (my job. my MOS), and then under Clinton. Clinton destroyed the military with his budget cuts. I saw the writing on the wall and saw how Congress came out with the new "early retirement" package for a 15 year retirement instead of the full 20. I kept seeing how military bases were closing down, Coast Guard Cutters were getting decommissioned, all sorts of military cuts in the other services as well. Long story short: I decided to look into the new "early retirement" plan and jumped on it - and I retired with 17 years of service versus 20, full benefits like 20 years, but just a slight loss of retirement pension once a month.

I still miss the Coast Guard and miss serving in the military. The question was asked, "If I were called up, who would I want in the helm"? That is a no brainer. I WANT BUSH!!!!!!! If I was asked to serve again, I wouldn't think twice about it. If Kerry was President, I'd be scared sh**less about being in the service! [:@] I'd be scared sh**less about being a proud American, because the U.N. and all the terrorists would have a field day with our great country.

Bush with out a doubt, the last thing I would want is a C in C that would say what a great job he did with the war and then when it was over that every one who fought in it was a war criminal!!!![:@][:@][:@][:@]

If they would take and old fart like me I'd go tomorrow regardless of who would be in the White House. But without a doubt I prefer to have Bush as the Commander and Chief over kerry.
At least I would be certian that after I and my fellow soldier came home he would not be calling us war criminals to advance his personal and political goals.

ditto what everyone says. I served under Ford, Carter, and Reagon and it was really sad under Carter and Kerry would be much worse. I would try to influence my military age children or grandchildren not to serve if Kerry was president. Under Kerry, they would be funded poorly, sacrificed for the will of the U.N. and probably have their benefits reduced even more than it was under Clinton and Carter.

I served under them all from LBJ to Clinton and if I could do it all over again would much prefer those with a set. GWB vs Kerry? Not even close, Bush would be my choice.
