Default Wanted : rich person to rape me (prefferably Bill Gates)

http://www.cnn.com/2004/LAW/09/07/br...ase/index.html

Don't that figure ? What an injutice to women everywhere that this trial DID NOT take place. IF Kobe raped her, and read below how he worded the actions of that night, then he should not be able to buy his way out IMO. It sends a terrible message to young women everywhere, doesn't it ? And also sends a message to rich rapers everywhere as well.

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Nearly a week after a sexual assault charge against Kobe Bryant was dropped, attorneys for the woman who accuses the NBA star of raping her said Tuesday the upcoming civil suit will turn the focus away from their client and more toward Bryant.

"Because this case has now been dismissed, Kobe Bryant cannot take the Fifth Amendment. He will have to testify. We'll have an opportunity to cross-examine him in a deposition under oath," attorney L. Lin Wood said Tuesday on CNN's "American Morning."

Wood said Bryant's signed statement admitting that he recognizes that his accuser did not see their encounter as consensual was the key in getting his client to decide not to pursue the criminal charge. (Full statement)

"If Kobe Bryant had not agreed to those words in a signed public statement, we would still have a criminal case being tried today," the attorney said. "She would have gone forward, even knowing that in that system she was not going to be treated fairly."

John Clune, the 20-year-old woman's personal attorney, said Bryant's statement "both apologizing to her directly and also admitting and conceding he sees why she felt like this encounter was nonconsensual" was "powerful."

In the document, Bryant apologized to the woman "for my behavior that night and for the consequences she has suffered in the past year."

After the statement's release Wednesday, even as jury selection in the trial was under way, District Judge Terry Ruckriegle dismissed the single charge of felony sexual assault against the Los Angeles Lakers guard.

Prosecutor Mark Hurlbert told the court that the alleged victim "is unable to go forward" with the trial and that she requested "that at no time this case be refiled."

........

The accuser's civil suit, filed in federal court in Denver, seeks unspecified monetary damages and alleges Bryant has a "history of attempting to commit similar acts of violent sexual assault on females he has just met."

Wood said a jury will decide what compensation the woman deserves.

"The injury is enormous. This young girl will live with the scars of this rape for the rest of her life as well as the aftermath of being involved in this incident," he said.

"Her privacy has been invaded, and her reputation has basically been destroyed. It's going to take her the rest of her life to get over it, if she really ever can."

Bryant, 26, could have been sentenced to four years to life in prison or 20 years to life on probation if found guilty of the criminal count of sexual assault against him.

The alleged victim said Bryant raped her at a Vail-area resort where she worked and where the basketball superstar was staying.

Stealthy, according to evidence gathered she had 2 different DNA's on her. Question is how distraught was she if she had sex with # 2 after being purportedly raped by Kobe or was it before she was purportedly raped by Kobe? Now this is not saying that Kobe didn't rape her since no one was there and only 2 people really know what happened.

Kinda jumping the gun ,aren't you Stealthycat ?
It hasn't been conclusively proven that a rape even occured , so far it's "he said , she said" . Now comes the civil trial in which Bryant may be convicted whether he did rape her or not and she'll get a nice fat check . I think that if she's willing to drop the criminal case she has no grounds for a civil trial .

Kobe Bryant issued a statement, which was read in court by his lawyer, Pamela Mackey.

"I want to apologize to her for my behaviour that night and for the consequences she has suffered in the past year. Although this year has been incredibly difficult for me personally, I can only imagine the pain she has had to endure. I also want to apologize to her parents and family members, and to my family and friends and supporters, and to the citizens of Eagle, Colo.

"Although I truly believe this encounter between us was consensual, I recognize now that she did not and does not view this incident the same way I did. After months of reviewing discovery, listening to her attorney, and even her testimony in person, I now understand how she feels that she did not consent to this encounter," the statement read in part.

Bryant's statement was a condition of the woman withdrawing her testimony, his lawyers told the sports network ESPN on Thursday. Mackey and Hal Haddon told ESPN's website that the accuser "insisted on that statement as a price of freedom."

How much plainer do you need it to be ? She didn't consent - no means no. Rape.

Awe hell, look on the bright side, she'll be a millionaire for it.

Show's how far we've come. 40-60 years ago no matter how much money he had he'd proably had been lynched.

Doing it because you want to and yelling "rape" later is just pure stupidity no matter how you view it . No means no before the fact , not after . I truly sympathize with rape victims , they certainly didn't ask for it , but this case reeks of "make a quick buck" . What if the accused hadn't been a mega bucks NBA player ? Would she have dismissed the charges so readily ? Methinks not .

The girl probably just wants some major $$$$$ from Kobe, that's all.

This whole thing reminds me of two ex-Coasties that I worked with years ago. They decided to do the "horizontal mambo" during lunchtime, downstairs in the basement of the Federal Bldg. I mean, come on... I knew it... They knew it... Everyone knew it... It was totally consentual! Yeah, sure, it was wrong to do in uniform, during business hours - but that is not the main point.

The point is that "Suzy" {the black widow} lured "Keith" into her trap. To put it mildly, she was nothing but a 'Ho in my book! [:@] "Keith" fell for it and, well, I mean, you know what happend next...

The next thing that still to this day nobody quite understands, is "Suzy" all of the sudden changed her tune. That very next week, she filed rape charges, when SHE was the one (just like a black widow spider) who lured "Keith" into it.

Long story short: "Keith".... Loss of all pay/rank, benefits, and a Dishonorable Discharge! [&o] "Suzy".... still on active duty somewhere and is still despised by both male & female Coasties.

Getting back to Kobe Bryant.... I hope he doesn't have to pay a flat dime and gets his reputation restored.

How bout when Tyson went back to his hotel room at 2:30 in the morning with Ms. Whatever and purportedly raped her and then went to prison? Does anyone really think had he not been black or Mike Tyson that he would have served any time? Ever since that these cases get more and more interesting.
