I went to a Bush rally on Saturday as some of you may have read on another post. Yesterdays newspaper had some quotes from local Democratic leaders that i neede to respond to. I know you won't be able to get the full impact because you haven't read their comments , but in general what do you think of this letter?
Local Democrats Bash Bush after Rally
I find it very interesting that Mr. Cassillo head of the Democrat Party in Erie was quoted as saying, "Mr Bush, you came to the wrong neck of the woods to talk about economic improvement". "We are flat on our back, and you have failed miserably". Well Mr. Cassillo, hasn't your democratic Party been running Erie for 30 or so years? The Democrats running the City have been the failures here, and in typical liberal fashion you want to blame someone else like President Bush.
On page 1S of the Erie Times sunday is a story " UP FROM THE ASHES" Solving regions 30 year manufacturing decline. a sentence from the first paragraph reads", during the last 30 years Erie County's manufacturing work force has been cut in half- from more than 50,000 in 1974 to todays total of 25,000". I guess in your world George Bush is responsible for Erie's lack of leadership for the past 30 years not the people running the city. No President can create jobs, he can only help stimulate job growth with tax incentives and leave the rest up to businesses. But many in your party whine that the "Rich are the only ones getting tax breaks" I'm far from rich and I got tax relief. I don't ever remember a Democrat sending me a check for even a dollar let alone 300.00.And my payroll deductions are less than 4 years ago. The people complaining are the people who don't pay hardly any taxes in the first place. Did any of you send back your 300.00 checks? I didn't think so. Why is it that people tend to ignore that the computer age and robotics have alot to do with loss of manufacturing jobs over the years? To say that technology had no effect would be disingenuous, but you guys are good at being wrong and distorting most issues.
I'd like to address some of the protesters signs that I saw. One sign read "No Blood for Oil". Where is the oil they are talking about? I don't see any Iraqi oil coming to the United States, do you? And if Bush has so much influence with oil companies, why are our prices not lower with the elections coming? And it is these same people who complain about gas prices being too high that don't want our country drilling for our own oil in many parts of the country. Hypocritical! More democratic talking points, from the same old playbook of the last 40 years.Democrats have been promising the same things to Americans year after year after year, with NO RESULTS . George Bush delivered ,prescription coverage for seniors, better standards of education and 30% more funding of education, liberated 2 countries and 50 million people, but now it's not good enough. Unbeleivable! Tell me Kerry supporters, besides John Kerry being in Viet Nam for 4 1/2 months, what has this man acomplished in 19 years as a Senator? Just give me one good reason that we should trust this man. Atleast I know where Bush stands and that he won't be swayed by poll numbers and focus groups.
Another sign read "HE LIED,THEY DIED" Lied about what? Are you refering to the same lie told by Bill Clinton, Al Gore, John Kerry , John Edwards and many other countries including Egypt,Jordan, Russia, Great Britian, Italy and our CIA?
You might want to invest in Cable TV or read other newspapers. Another interesting item popped up in Sundays paper quoting our wonderful Mayor. "We're paying through the roof and taking it up the behind in national heath care". I find it amusing that the same Democrat Mayor who wanted to raise fees on home owners based on the sizes of their roofs claiming that there is more runoff into the sewers so we should pay more. WOW! Talk about taking it up the behind. And using the term like he did I thought was very distasteful from a sitting Mayor of our great city. But he has the right to say what he wants, not because of the Erie Times , but our Military who protect his right and mine. I hope the Erie Times recognizes both. The fact that 22,000 people gathered to hear President Bush speak in Erie must have you scared to death for all of you to be saying the things you are.
One thing the Democrats were sucessful at on Saturday, when President Bush was here, was to organize a group of 300 protesters (looked more like 100 or so to me) with alot of them looking no older than 12 to 16 years old. What did you do walk up state Street and gather all the kids playing on the streets and give them signs and tell them to yell out your talking points? About one third of the crowd couldn't even vote due to their age. Way to rally the troops! I think Zell Miller hit the nail on the head when he said that he "didn't leave the democratic party, they left him" The same thing has happened in Erie over the years. Voting for a person because they have a big (D) after their name doesn't make sense to me.
One last sign I want to comment on was "Christians For Kerry" How does a Christian support a candiadte who has been supporting abortion all his career in the Senate? How does one support partial birth abortion? How does a christian support Gay Marriage and a Senator who's judges say it's OK in Massachusettes? And the lies about Cambodia that Kerry has told over 50 times on record and was "SEARED" into his memory. And the fact that Kerry wanted to silence Vietnam veterans who wanted to tell their version of events on Kerry in Vietnam? He wanted to silence people from speaking out. People who served longer and earned some of the same if not more medals that he did. And they don't throw their medals or someone elses over a wall in protest of a war. And how does one support a person who turned his back on the men still fighting in the war he now wants to make his issue for why he should be elected. It all makes no sense to someone who doesn't only look at the big (D) behind a name. These are only a few questions on Kerry's flip flopping and outright lies. How does a Christian overlook these things?
Finally, to the person who spit on my truck while marching up State street. You have given me even more of a reason not to vote for the angry and out of control democrat party. That was a pretty cowardly act to vandalize a persons property because it had a bumper sticker you don't like. Good thing I wasn't inside the vehicle when you did it.

only thing i can say is excellent post fight , just be prepared to get a swarm of attacks in the paper by the liberal readers who can only trash the president and his supporters instead of debate with them.
and another thing , those kids that didn't look old enough to vote who were protesting should bother us , as if the liberals are getting to them now , they'll get them to sway to there side which will be trouble when they' re old enough to vote.
as for the christians for kerry , well you have to remember that not all those who call themselves christians really are christians , those who are know what i mean , and just because the sign said that doesn't mean anything , you can write anything on a sign you want to .
sorry to hear about what they did to your truck.
the way the liberals are so praising of john kerry , even though they can't give an example of anything he's done positive for this country WHILE HE WAS IN THE SENATE remind me of an old movie title that i saw on HBO a couple of years back. the title of the movie was called " MUCH ADU ABOUT NOTHING " , which perfectly describes the praises put forth on john kerry.
I think it is an excellent op/ed letter F4YG, I hope that they print it! It covered a lot of issues concerning this election! I have read where these radical protesters at thr Convention and at other rallies, are doing nothing more than harming their own liberal Democratic party!
I also cannot comprehend how any Christian could support the party of abortion and gay marriage! There are just so many issues that Heinz-kerry is wrong on, and that's not even getting to the issue of our Second Amendment rights!
Again, good post! I hope they publish it!
Here in my neck of the woods, while the state of Texas has moved to be an overwelmingly Republican state, my area and county, are still yellow-dog-dummycrap! Your letter would probably not get published here!

If your mother was an abortion proponent, would you be reading this right now?
F4YG, Great letter and I hope it is printed and read. I have nearly given up reading the letters to the editor in our small local paper due to the drivel written by the local Democrats. They have beaten the party talking points to death over the past few months and I can almost tell you what a letter is going to say after reading the first paragraph. They also tend to run very long taking up 3-4 times the space of those written by the few letters from Bush supporters that get printed, seems the editor ignores the length criteria for the Kerry supporters and holds Bushes supporters to the limits of brevity. They also seem to ignore their own rules as to the number of letters by any individual that may be published in a months time in favor of those writing in favor of Kerry or at least Bush detractors. Luckily the Democratic party here in our county is nearly dead, a typical meeting each month draws about 20 supporters. The meeting is held in a room at the Parks and Recreation building on an evening when my Granddaughter is there for her martial arts class and I see them coming in. Last week there were only about 6 that showed up. The Sheriff and the Clerk of the Court (our two most visible Democrats but with a decidedly conservative slant) didn't even bother to show. Go figure.
Beautiful letter, says it all.....however the Milwaukee Urinal , being the ultra liberal rag that it is, would never print that !! [:@] Good thing you aren't in Milwaukee !

What a lot of people refuse to understand is that the government has very little actual influence on economics, aside from what the fgederal Reserve does about monetary policy. In this regard, the Federal Resverve board is completely independent of the executive branch, and its' policies are more influenced by world markets and trade than anything the White House of Congress want.
In this regard, it is a fact of economic lih fe that businesses will gravitate to locations where labor is the cheapest, because personnel costs are a major component of opertaions, and the directors of corporations' first responsibility is to their stockholders, which means they are first and foremost attempting to maximize profitability.
If American workers want to keep their high-paying jobs at home in the USA, what they need to do is to purchase the corporations they work for.
If American workers think John Kerry (or any other President or politician) can bring back the high-paying jobs that have gone overseas, they also believe in the TOOTH FAIRY!!

What you say is true only if you completely ignore taxes. The governments ability to take from you, essentially at gunpoint, a good portion of everything you earn has a great impact on the economics of every society icluding our own. The capitalist system would work very well without a federal reserve if left alone. The only reason a federal reserve is required is to attempt to correct the meddling of government in things they have no business in in the first place.
