Oh My GOD!! G.W. proposes logging the LAST 30% of the National Forests!!!

I was watching the end of abc's coverage of the Grand Old Party's convention tonight, and right after it ended......On comes this enviro-whacko 30 second slot how president Bush is proposing logging the last remaining 30% of our National Forests!!!
Seems to me that ALL he has proposed is rescinding the 2001 Clintoon[:'(] roadless [:'(]rule enacted by slick Willie on his way out the door-And that is ALL!
Now if I am wrong, could someone out there steer me right on this thing? I DON"T think so.
Aint it great how such lies can be used to manipulate a generally ignorant, politically correct, desk dwelling populace. I sure hope it doesn't work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Remember this sort of thing when you think about aligning yourselves with these people on issues regarding THEIR agenda!!! RE; Forest Service proposes road and trail closures.[:'(]

They would prefer to see it burn than be logged regardless of the fact that forests are a renewable resource. They also disregard the fact that mature forests are next to useless as far as wildlife habitat is concerned since most big game species are edge or browse feeders. Of course that fact doesn't effect them since they don't hunt and don't support hunting either. They want the resource "Saved" for the enjoyment of all, yet close roads and block construction of new ones and trails that would allow access for everybody including those getting on in years or otherwise physically unable to hike any distance across rough terrain. Rather than banning the roads or even logging, they should support regulations requiring that they be built or logged in a manner consistent with sound conservation practices to alleviate damage done when clear cut methods are employed and recognize that even clear cutting has its place.
They decry the use of fossil fuels for the generation of electricity yet stop construction of dams for hydro power and nuclear plants because of the snail darter, forbish louse wort, white footed deer mouse or any one of another 100 supposedly endangered species.

CM, I have heard that too yet I can't understand why that should be. Is it because some pinhead in DC doesn't trust the loggers to build their own roads or is it a mis-stated name for existing roads built for an entirely different purpose. As a youngster growing up in the Nicolet National Forest in Northern Wisconsin, I had an uncle cut that his own logging roads into stands where he had purchased the stumpage rights from the FS, the Forest Service cut and maintained fire roads in stands that had been planted by the CCC some years before. When does a fire road become a logging road and vice versa? Today the USFS is proscribed by law from even fighting some fires with modern equipment at the cost of tens of thousands of acres burned and lives lost, yet the enviro-whackos continue their bleating about roads and logging.

Those are forrest service roads, that in turn get used for logging operation where the Govt gets a share of the profits from the logging. SO in turn tax dollars are used to build roads to make more revenue for said government, leading to(hopefully) not as high of taxes as they could be.


Summit has a point there are a lot of mindless masses out there who,have a voter registration card and they get their info solely by listening to the evening news sound bites while cooking dinner. They aren't really paying attention but hear the little jab of the last 30%, and they don't think well if W is gonna cut the last 30% of our National forrest then he must be leaving the last 70% alone? And my other point I thought GW was too stupid to come up with a plan like this? So he'll probably have help, yet it's all his fault? This guy must be some kind of God, or Satan because nothing good that happens is ever His doing, just the bad stuff[]
