My brother and I are at complete opposite poles of beliefs......
He is very very liberal. He keeps sending me info about where he gets his information about the upcoming election.
Where is the best, most honest, unbiased news source that you get the most information from?
Thanks

They are all biased somewhat and I really have no preference. I probably watch Fox News a little more than any other channel, and in my honest opinion Fox is more biased than any other. Never in my entire life have I ever seen so much blatant campaigning by a network news service for one candidate.[&:]
My bro and I are always in a debate about something. Even though we are best of friends, we disagree on many points.
He gets his info from the BBS, Canadian News, Christian Science Monitor....etc....
How do we know we are getting the facts when there is so much bombarding us from every where? I try to stay abreast of the ins and outs of the political situations, but, it is sometimes hard to tell what is really the truth....
I heard Mrs. Bush (Sr.) say once that she never watches the news. They are so biased and get the facts so messed up.
What about c-span? Looking up the voting records of candidates?
How can we base our votes on previously chewed & spit out news sources?
It's frustrating to listen to news reports and try to decipher the truth out of them....
Coug......Could we have a poll on what news source is the most reliable? I think it would be interesting to see who comes out on top.
Thanks a bunch

I don't watch much TV period. I get my news from Reuters and the Associated Press, and on talk radio. I can see through the liberal spin just as well as the conservative hype just fine, and I have no need to watch the "experts" on the cable news networks.
Sunset, you might want to consider getting your news from a variety of sources so you get a better balance of actual news/issues covered and the slant with which they're covered.
If you listen to talk radio, you'll hear about a lot of current news/issues and the opinions of the hosts and callers. My favorites are Rush Limbaugh and Roger Hedgecock but there are many excellent local talk radio hosts who do cover a wide variety of issues. Talk radio has the advantage of being portable while driving your car, during yardwork, etc.
If you watch TV, you'll see a portion of the events but many will be filtered (read not covered) for various reasons. Local news is often very accurate on local stuff but gets their national news from the big three networks.
If you watch one of the 24-hour cable/satellite news stations (Fox News, CNN, etc.), you'll often find a wider variety of news/issues covered. Pretty much all of these news organizations also have websites so you can read the information at your leisure (often a big plus for being able to digest and comprehend all of the information).
There are alternative internet only websites like Druge, etc. that cover even more esoteric news. And of course bulletin boards, forums (like this one), etc. You can read this forum and ask questions (i.e. start topics) and get a lot of good information also.
You can also buy or subscribe to different newspapers (NY Times is the biggest but often is slanted, Wall Street Journal actually has good coverage, etc.) and get much of the news in print and opinion pieces also. If your interest is mainly political, there are newspapers, magazines and journals that focus on political news only. Two papers I've enjoyed are the Washington Times and Wall Street Journal because they had a nice mixture. You can often get a headlines only version of these papers for free by having them email you the headlines.
I would have to say that there is no single source that should be the only one you watch or read. If you would like to have talking points or even just more understanding of the issues when you talk with your brother, consider checking out many of these sources and join "the arena of ideas." Hope this helps some.

And you watch it anyway? I find that kinda amusing and a little unbeleivable. [&:]
