DemocRATS just waiting for 1000th Death

I saw Chris Lahane(sp) on a debate last night with a republican Kelly ???? someone on Fox. Anyway I have heard the democrats before using talking points on "soon the number of soldiers killed will reach 1000" in Iraq. Chris LaHane was saying that "next week the death toll will reach 1000 soldiers killed in Iraq". Are they counting down as if 1000 is some sort of magic number that will end Bush's Presidency? Are they politicizing or going to politicize the deaths of young men and women who in an all volunteer armed forces have given their lives for millions of Iraqi's to be free and our own safety in the world?

The democrats should be ashamed that their top leaders and spokemen have become so obsessed with their own power that they have lost all sense of reality. I am absolutely floored by this BS by the Dems.

f4yg--Exactly. It's a new "milestone" in their book and somehow more reason for President Bush to be evicted from office. When the dems lose this election, the news networks will have less reason to trumpet this.

I have never seen anyone voice this idea of the magic 1000 mark( till now).I was speaking here to Calhunter a few weeks ago about this very thing.

Just waiting there time- baited breath- but i do hope not cheering- (after all they are American lives not numbers)- for the magic 1000 to USE against bush.

Yes they already have & will continue too. A generalization.

I have seen it here A list of OUR dead & there names < but not to honor them or a show of support or thanks. But a poltical tool to be used to make points& lay blame&USE them cheaply.

Like those critizing our airmen for shooting at SO called wedding partys- shooting tracers at them. They can do better?Selective sight/poltical quarterbacking trying to use these things as a excuse aginst bush- in there own little antibush worlds.
But you dont have 7 minutes to think or frezze for hours like kerry did on 9/11 - but maybe 7 seconds too live.


Just poltical pawns& stats& numbers to some. No i dont find that to normal.

But ppl like michale moore & jane fonda & there like i dont find to normal ither. I think they have no problem in using out military in such a way.

If you had forgotten, the mission was to liberate Iraq. Everyone knew that it would cost lives--that's what happens when we fight dictators, terrorists, and criminals. You've heard the line that "freedom isn't free", and it is one of the most profound statements ever heard.

I'm truly sorry that you feel angry and guilty that we have a rich and powerful country. I'm sure that all of the people who worked tirelessly to build it to that level are rolling in their graves right now.

A couple things. It's not hypocritical. It was an unfortunate miscalculation to which he has recently admitted. Hypocrasy would require that he makes a statement and change his position. Something that he has received a lot of criticism for NOT doing. Second, Gen. Tommy Franks has revealed recently that the "Mission Accomplished" line was one that he suggested and ordered hung. Interesting to me that Bush not one time suggested that someone else other than himself was resposible. Not that he should. But I can think of one president in recent memory that would have pushed that blame off on day one.

Don't forget that all of the naysayers thought we'd lose thousands of soldiers in the first week alone. And they said taking Bagdad would be impossible without thousands and thousands of deaths by street to street fighting.

Is 1000 guys a lot? Well, yeah. But considering the task at hand, it's a pretty damned good record.
