Kerry protested the Vietnam War and called it "for nothing!" Now he tells all vets he has defended the nation just like them. If he denies the Vietnam War had a purpose of defending America than at what point did he defend America? When also did he take part in the atrocities(if any) committed in Vietnam? Between shooting Vietcong in the back, hospital visits and saving drowning soldeirs when did he have time to join in on the mass raping and village burning? He should bow out and save the lies he gets called on. cannot believe he has the support of all the Democrats. To be a Democrat must be a lifestyle.

It is not hard to be a war hero and and deny the purpose of the VietNam war. It has been done by many. The point here seems to be semantics....kind of a play on words. If he is telling the truth and was a hero indeed, with his medals and purple hearts, then he has every right to denounce the war and what it stood for. He was there!!! Whether you agree or not, he has that right. On the other hand, how he did it should raise concerns. Calling everyone who served there a "baby killer" etc. is spitting in the face of fellow comrads. Whether he earned his medals and purple hearts is something that the American people will determine for themselves before election day. Only time will tell if this will be the death of this Democratic Ticket, as one here has stated but the more important concerns is to not undestimate the strenghts and support that Kerry and Co. has. To do so would be playing right into their hands.

Good post Jimmy. There were & are many Vietnam veterans who questioned the motivation & even more who questioned how the war was waged. These people did not come back & accuse all US soldiers of atrocities & barbarism, spreading outright lies & spitting in the faces of the brave folks who returned. I get chills when I hear of those who were held prisoner & tortured in ways unimaginable hearing Kerry's words broadcast during their imprisonment & torture.

Forget Kerry's 4 months in Vietnam, what he's done after returning makes him wildly unfit to be president of the US.
