Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default What if ??

We all decided not to hunt for a couple years, and let the general public realize how important it really is.

Think about the economic impact on things.Car Insurance rates would sky rocket, buisness closings, no more money going into sate and federal budgets. Towns would have to raise taxes.

Diesesed and malnurished animals in tree huggers yards.

Mountain bikers and other people using public land would have to pay a tax similar to what we have to keep up the land.

They would be begging us to start hunting again.

I know this is something that would never happen, but strange things come into my mind some times.

It would upset the equilibrium we enjoy now, but dont assume a new equilibrium would not eventually be found. Those that lose in the transition will complain, those that gain in the transition will cheer.

I subscribe to the conservation of mass and energy approach to things, nothing dissapears, it either accumulates or changes form. Your monies you now spend for hunting will be spent elsewhere, or they will accumulate to be passed on to your heirs (minus taxes)

Your time you spend hunting and thinking about hunting will be applied to your new hobby.

I am curious about the deer population however, because MO has seen a nearly 10 fold increase in hunting kills in the last 30 years, so hunting and the current plicies have not really kept the deer population down.

Could happen.
Ppl are very adaptable Disarm them brainwash them like they do/did in england& most of the rest of europe & there will be little or no hunting .A thing for just the very well off if any.

But i guess that will never happen too, least i hope not. But i wonder what the next 20-50-100 yrs will bring. It seems a struggle to hang onto what we got , more new laws new restrictions more houses, more roads more dogs, more tree huging greenie/peta metrosexual veggins

It is suprizing what ppl will get use too & except .
We keep Electing antigun ppl like KERRY & many others like him- And save the cockroach/ they have rights too ppl Will get us there .If anyone/ thing will.

i dont think thats a good idea. look at the canadian gun registration laws. a complete failure, but no one will admit it, they just keep throwing cash at it. if hunting stopped, the eco-nazi's would be making up all kinds of lies saying how much better it is without it

Not sure if this in line with the post but. Here localy we are having a problem with some of our local "GREENIES" ( enviro's). Seems they like to swim at one of out local river access facilities. Here in Washington these places, ie.. campgrounds, boat launches, river or lake access facilities, are paid for and maintained by funds from fishing and hunting lic. sales. Well a few years back,( about 15yrs) the state passed a law that said you had to have a Fish and Wildlife dept parking permit to use these places. You get one free with your lic. purchase but if you don't buy a hunting or fishing lic. you have to buy a parking permit,($10) it's good for one yr.
Well our local Greenies feel they don't have to have one and are raising quite a stink about it. Calling for open defiance of this rule.
Now I remind you the monies for these places doesn't come out of the general fund but from my lic. and tag purchases. The state this yr desided to take a hard stance on the violation of not having a parking permit and they have started issueing tickets to the violaters.
It has been explained to these people why and how this rule is in place but they don't care. They feel they have the right to go anywhere they want and if it is public it's their's to use. This really chaps me cause they could use it if they would just get the permit and help pay for it.

I've always said that the general populace could be the most powerful lobbying force in America if we had a mind.

Whats funny is that people always say that you wouldnt need hunting for population control if we didnt try to kill the natrual preditors, which we do yes, but we need to keep their poplulation down too. They dont realize that when the population of deer went way up, a disease would come through and wipe them out. And their would be diseased deer everywhere, which is bad enough the way it is. But then there would be a lot of natural preditors because there was a lot of food before, but now there would be no food so they will have to find other food. Which in most areas would be pets and little kids. 100 years or so ago the natural preditors would just die off without food, but not now. I read a story about cayotes in California where the cayotes got hungary and they were going into backyards and eatting dogs. Dont tell me that if there was a little kid there he would have been left alone.
