Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default The anti hunter plan

Well, it seems to me that the anti hunters, while not giving up, have decided that taking away our hunting heritage will take more than the courts, so I think they are doing it by taking away our habitat.

If they can't get us in court, they will build us out of places to hunt. What do you all think? Does this theory hold water or am I all washed up?

I doubt very much if it will happen in our life time or even the life time of our grand kids but who knows maybe in the next 1000 years vacant land could be as rare as hens teeth

Urban sprawl is a HUGE problem. I don't think you can blame it on the anti's though. Granted a lot of good land gets posted by anti's but land development is the evil creature in my neck of the woods. [:'(][:@]

Well I think they have an up hill battle with no end in sight. Ayone hunting mid-atlantic region knows the deer are way out of control. The only solution that will work is hunting them. The other solutions are way too expensive. These tight state and county budgets don't allow for anything else but a comodity to exploit. Just remember to respond with "It's for the children".

We hunt to reduce the spread of disease "For the children".

We hunt to reduce the deer population so that budgets can be spent "For the children".

We hunt to reduce the deer population to therefore reduce auto accidents "For the children".

And what ever else you want to add.

YEP - check out my web site www.wishunt.com

I started this Non Proffit this year- Due to children and work I've not had much of a chance to get it really rolling. But the gist of it is to purchase hunting land and then lease back the land to farmers to keep it productive and free of development.

The problem is NOBODY want's to step up and put their money where their mouth is. They all want to wait and join when there is 20,000 acres to hunt in their back yard. I'm not bitter, I just can't see why guys don't want to step up to the plate and start buying land as a group? Maybe worried that I'll just take their cash. I can understand that,,,

Anyone interested just email me! Heck I'll let YOU run if you want

Moderators - you can can this if it's not appropriate, I don't post this on other threds but it really applys to this one.

WisHunt, that's a pretty need organization. If I didn't own land, and lived in Wisconsin, I would definitely be interested.

WisHunt,

that is a pretty cool idea. It still is a lot of money that I just don't have....otherwise, I'd jump in in a heart beat!

how much land do you have now?

beej,

Nothing right now, I just have myself and one other guy as members so we take in only 200 / month- we are waiting until this winter to look into purchasing some leases so that we can start having some land for members to access.

Development does claim it's fair share, but most of the hunting habitat in central PA is lost due to coal mining and logging. Reclaimation projects exist, but it takes many years to make some of these former great hunting spots great once again.

Lease hunting has grown more and more popular here as well. I don't belong to any, but my guess is that lease hunting appeals to those that do not wish to assume an active ownership role. Who pays the taxes... meetings to attend, a board perhaps or even and elected official to handle issues of finace, tax obligations book keeping and dispursments. Some type of administrative structure would need to exist and the list could go on.

Others still would hesitate to shoulder the unavoidable liability issues in this sue happy world we live in. There seems to be a law office or attorney on every street corner these days... and more than one is eager to file suit, friviouls or otherwise.

I'll stick to the little plots of ground I can secure permission to hunt. Unless I could retire early, I'd never have enough free time for a joint land ownership venture. [&o]
