I just heard this on the radio. It is being said that the date of his departure is so that there will be no governors election in November. If there is an election in November a popular Republican would bring many people to the polls, and also help GW Bush in the process!

And NJ wonders why thier state is the butt (no pun intended) of so many jokes. The whole damn state is corrupt. There's more to this story that I feel will come out tomorrow when the lawsuit is released. That's why he is resigning, not because he is gay.

Maybe if they get someone else in there the taxes will come down some and people will want to live there. It's a nice state but taxes are high. Auto insurance is crazy, too.

He's doing the right thin for the seat and for his State ... and it aint because he chose to be gay either, its the WAY he chose to do it.

So once he announced this in a press conference, why would he need to resign? It would already be public at that point. Many of us may not approve of his having an affair or of being gay but that didn't cause Clinton to resign nor that one gay U.S. Senator. I wonder if there isn't more as to the real reason why he's resigning.
