Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Deficit & Taxes

With the current revenues comming in and the current spending level of the gov. won't taxes have to be raised in the future to pay for what we have bought as a nation?

Our Budget deficit is the highest in history even when adjusted for inflation, in my opinion, that is alarming. I have also heard Greenspan and many other economists say it is bad for the country and the economy if not addressed.

In the recent news I saw where many reps. and dems. on the Hill are becoming increasingly concerned about the ever spiraling debt.

There seems to be some kind of mentality that the sooner we spend enough borrowed money such that all the taxes we can get will just pay the interest on the debt (and there's nothing left for anything else) the better off we will be.....it used to be the democrats that used this philosophy and the Republicans lamented this as "bad for our country" Today the republicans are leading the way in this philosophy.....

WHERE'S OUR BADLY NEEDED THIRD PARTY???????

how much of a deficit did Reagan ring up???? The main difference between those we condider liberal and those we consider conservative is how the borrowed money is spent, for instance, military build up versus giving it to those that dont work.

Bush added the most costly medicare benefits to date with the prescription drug benefit - taking us one step closer to socialized medicine and ballooning the deficit in the process.

Now here is what confuses me---

The Dems. are continually accused of wanting more socialized medicine and the Reps. wail and whine about it complaining about the liberal spending it entails and entitlments it creates.

- then -

When Bush does it, and actually signs it into law, - it suddenly becomes a "Conservative Plan"??????????????

I don't get[>:][&:][>:][&:]

So what are you saying...you are against the Women, Infants & Children program? You are against Medicare?? Against the Head Start program? Against Early Intervention??

Because these are all federally funded programs that give to "those that don't work"...they happen to be retirees and children!

So it's ok that some little kid doesn't have good nutritious food to eat because we should spend that money to build up our military? Sorry grandma, no medicare bennies for you...we need more tanks! Oops, sorry little Downs Syndrome child...no help for you...we need more bombs!

That is pathetic!

Instead of worrying about building up all of these other stupid countries who are only going to turn around and stab us in the back anyhow, we should concentrate on fixing our own country first! I think all foreign aid should be withdrawn and that money used to fix the USA.

Ok, enough of my rant. I'm better now[8D]

Chipmunk, one quick question for you.

I can prove that it is the federal governments responsibility to provide a military for the safety of the citizens in the Constitution. Can you please provide me the section of the Constitution that says it is the feds responsibility to provide for the social welfare of the citizens?
