THIS is what GW should have done in those 10 minutes ....
Upon hearing a plane had hit the WTC (conflicting reports on whether is was commercial or private) he should have ordered a shoot down on all planes in the sky. No ifs, no ands and no buts. Shoot them all day, take no chances.
He should have immediately left that school building and gotten in a car that would have somewhat isolated him from his advisors except by telephone (to hell with the cards telling him to stay put, stay calm and that more information was coming) The setup he had going at the school wasn't useful or neccessary.
3 minutes after hearing another plane had hit the WTC, GW should have nuked Afghanistan and hope that the terrorists were from there. I know that sounds rough, but a President has got to act and act immediately with no fear. Okay, maybe not nuked them, but we should have scrambled pilots and set a course immediately.
GW should have had military personnel escort the Senators and Reps in the White House out and away - obviously because for 40 minutes those " leaders " were frozen without a clue what to do.
Lets see now ... we've got GW shooting down all the planes thats still in the sky, we're in motion to bomb Afghanistan (fingers crossed) and we're leading the "leaders" by the hand to safety. Okay, now what ?

Im sure within a very short time things where done many things including the nuks that can reach anywhere from here at top alert.[]
I know the military base i went to a week later 9/11 in europe for 2 mths was on top alert.
But gob thinks nothing was donesad .
Now if we look at the man he supports he hasnt done anything in 40+ yrs or so . 7 min?

We didn't and they weren't.
Most were from Saudi Arabia with a handful from Afghanistan and I think one or 2 from other countries.
9 were allowed through Iran with no passport checks.
None were from Iraq or had ties to Saddam Hussein.
That's why we invaded Iraq, and pulled many troops out of Afghanistan to get Saddam.

Is that the best you can do GA . What would your heros have done Clinton and Gore . Tell us all , exactly nothing like they did the other 8 years in office. You libbies trying to make a big deal out of seven minutes shows your total panic mode you are in that Kerry isnt going to win. See now , seven minutes , the first thing I would say the security people are going to do is to make sure it is safe to move the President and not run him into a worse situation. Tell us GA , much was known in the first seven minutes of the attack and what could he have done. The way it was handled was the right way. Did anyone know it was Arabs that were hijacking the planes for sure,no. Facts had to be found out first before a plan of action could be formulated. Of course , libbies and facts dont go together anyway.

GA, come on, the hatred of President Bush is getting rather stale, find something exciting & new...
Great post SC! It shows the shallowness of the "Hate President Bush" position, especially on this issue. GA is right when he says President Bush did the right thing, but of course his reasoning is... flawed. President Bush's national security team monitored the situation & then made great decisions then, afterward, & are still making the right decisions in the war against terror. That is why he needs to stay for a second term leading the war against terror. Kerry has said that he will react to terrorist attacks, which, again, means we must be hit & innocent US citizens must be killed for him to react - not act. Under Kerry's feckless leadership, we will be vulnerable & fight the terrorist on our soil & on their terms. I much prefer to stick with President Bush, & fight the terrorists on our terms on their soil.
