Kerry"s Military Family Fiction

KERRY"S MILITARY
FAMILY FICTION
Kerry"s Rhetoric Doesn"t Match His
Record On Supporting The Military

KERRY"S RHETORIC: A MILITARY FAMILY BILL OF RIGHTS

Kerry Says We Must "Do More To Honor" Troops And Their Families. "And while we strengthen our ability to fight terrorism at home and abroad, we will do more to honor the sacrifice of our men and women in uniform and their families " Our troops and their families are asking for help, and as Harry Truman once said right here in St. Louis, "We should listen to these voices " there is in them the wisdom of courage and the hope of a new day for the world."" (John Kerry For President, "Kerry And Edwards Reunite On Believe In America Tour With A Pledge To Keep The Faith With Those Who Serve," Press Release, 8/5/04)

Kerry Proposed Military Family Bill Of Rights, Claiming It Was "Not Just Rhetoric," But "Reality I Lived." "I will never forget that our true power is measured not only by the strength of our weapons, but by the spirit of our soldiers. To me, that is not just rhetoric; it is the reality I lived " and it is central to the work of my life. So I come here today to propose a Military Family Bill of Rights " real and specific guarantees " that will keep faith with those who served and the families who share in their sacrifice." (Sen.
