Unabashed Racist Leads Tenn. GOP Primary
There's no doubt that many Southerners (and many others in general) maintain a philosophy of absolute white supremacy, racial segregation, and xenophobia. What really surprises me is that this candidate is receiving such an overwhelming majority of the primary votes.
Do any of you think that the Democrats could use this particular campaign to vilify the Republican Party even further? Hart is a political small fry and nutjob, but I could very well imagine Al Gore ranting and raving about how the Republicans represent modern day racism, and that the only true way to freedom is through the Democrats. It might be total BS, but even a relatively small number of swing voters siding with Kerry and the Left could make things that much more difficult for Bush's re-election.
