Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default IMO..., A Great Article....Opinions Anyone?

Although I am a member of the NRA, GOA, and several other Pro-Gun and Second Amendment orginizations....this from my latest news letter received today from SAS made me very proud. Not more than I am of any of the organizations I belong to but....proud of the stance we with SAS take as ladies and women today. There are women, and then there are women. We ARE Women, not Femi-Nazis!! We hold traditional values dear and are a group of women, mother's and grandmother's that care about our Second Amendment and Gun rights.

Quote:
In the very early days of SAS, before we even had a name, I recall well the feeling of awe and amazement as, one by one, more and more women wrote to us expressing their graritude at finding other women like them. I know exactly how they felt because that was, is the miracle of SAS - that there are "so many women like us."

And for the first time in our country's history, women were given a national voice on an issue that seemed contrary to the essence of our womanhood: Firearms!! The media was kind enough to give us an obligatory glance, asking the quesiton " Just who are these women?" and then scurrying away before getting to the heart of the matter.

There is a growing mantra of the anti-gun crowd that guns are designed to kill. To that I would reply, "And?" While my Ruger .357 looks very nice, and coordinates well with different outfits, I surely do not keep it close by because of its aesthetic value. It is designed to kill, otherwise it would have no value to me. And if I am caught in those harrowing few seconds, where it is either my, my childrens, or grandchildrens lives, or a perpetrator's life , you had better believe that I hope my trusty six shooter does everything the anti-gunners claim that it will do!

Again, how is this contrary to who we are as women? I can give you the answer the media is afraid of: Its not.
Take it upon yourself to walk up on a couple of bear cubs or try to catch a baby alligator. Steal eggs out of a Robin's nest, if you dare. Mothers are programmed to protect their young. Try any of the excercises above if you have a doubt. The single most important aspect for protecting our young is that the mother herself lives. Any woman I know who is , or has ever been a mother has only one fear at least equal to fear of harm coming to her child. That fear is that harm will come to her first and she will not be able to protect her child.

So, self-defense is not in the least contrary to who we are as women. It is indeed the most innate part of who we are! While some women believe they can "talk" their way out of a hostile situation, an entirely different breed of women have chosen to meet force with force. The latter group does not cower under their beds with butter knives trying to remember what they learned in " How to Negotiate with a Meth-Crazed Perpetrator 101."!!! They are confident, skilled and trained. There is nothing in the least unfeminine about that!!

Once again, these two very different groups of women met in a great debate of the right of self-defense on Mother's Day those who oppose it, and those who demand it!! While these women are diametrically opposed politically, they are not so ideologically. Both believe in saving lives....Both believe in saving our children... The real difference between them is that one is willing to sacrifice freedom for a sense of security, while the other is willing to sacrifice NIETHER!!!! Guess which group I and many of the women of this board fall into?? It should be a no brainer!!!

Christine, A great article, yes. The problem is it will never be printed where so many others need it to be, in the mainstream media outlets. SAS has done a fantastic job the past several years and just the fact that they exist must send shivers down the spines of the liberals. Keep up the great work!

I love women who love America! Thanks very much to all of the SAS and others who are standing up for freedom! We all have a stake in this struggle, and I'm glad that woman are fighting for their rights while discrediting the liberal feminist stereotypes that the Left push on us.

Great article, I think I'll steer my wife toward the SAS and see if she would like to join.
That can't be the Dianne Sawyer from tv news.

The letter reminds me of a multiple killing that just took place in Columbia, Tenn. A local woman divorced a very abusive husband and got restraints against him to keep him from harassing her. She also bought a pistol and took training classes. The day after the restraint against her husband expired he broke into her home and killed the woman, their daughter and he also shot their son 4 times but he lived. When he broke into the home, the woman grabbed the telephone and hid in the closet and called 911. Her last words to the 911 operator were, "Why didn't I get my pistol instead of the phone."

Coastie, also mentioned in the same article:

[:@][:'(][:'(] Now why does that not surprise me???

Dianne Sawyer SAS's President is the same in name only to the Sawyer on the news.

Rockytop, I went through an abusive marriage, not only was my life threatened... but my then 2 yr olds son's life was too! I often think to myself that my knowing how to handle a gun, and my ex's knowing how well I shoot is perhaps what saved us, prior to and after his removal from the house and the divorce being final. I WILL dial 357 first, then 911!
The link for SAS is posted on the top thread of this page. I will post it here too. Please have your wife check it out, the more the merrier!! Not to mention it adds one more voice for our Second Amendment Rights!!
