Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Kerry defended America???

I heard Kerry say today that he spent 4 1/2 months in Vietnam defending America and he will defend America from the terrorist also.

Correct me if I'm wrong, and I'm sure someone will, but I didn't know we were in Nam to protect America. I thought it was to stop the spread of communism in SE Asia.

I think Kerry has rode this "4/12 month" horse to death.
Why would anyone listen him?
You'll hear one of two things, just what you heard the last time, or the complete opposite of what he said last time.

I don't think it's right to hammer on someone that actually went and fought. Especially when so many did all they could to not go.

Whatever the motives, you have to give the credit he deserves. He DID serve active combat duty in Vietnam. That was, in theory, in the best interest of the USA or we wouldn't have been there (not meaning to open a debate on that so just take it at face value). So yes, he DID defend America just as our troops are doing today in Iraq, they did in WWI and WWII, the American Revolution, Civil War and all other active duty folks do.

I hate the guy and he uses it to much to offset other things, but he DID protect his country with service in the armed forces in combat.

If it could be proven that he served honorably and actually earned the decorations that he threw away I'll get off his case , not before . I served in the military too , but never saw a day of combat . Does that make me some kind of hero ? No , it doesn't . Does shooting a wounded soldier while endangering your entire crew make him a hero ? I think not . [:@] He went to Viet Nam to garner some quick glory and get out again on a technicality he didn't earn thinking that being another Audie Murphy would further his real ambition , politics .

I was on the flight deck of an aircraft Charlie ,
one of the most dangerous places on Earth , I could have died hundreds of times each day . I worked the flightline onshore , I could have died many times doing that too . There were several times when I could have shipped out never to return because of situations like Libya and others , I knew that going in and accepted it . I never put myself in for decorations , much less honors I didn't deserve .

Kerry went over there for only one reason , gloryhounding to advance his future political career . As others who were over there and knew him have pointed out he made serious mistakes that could have gotten those under him killed needlessly , that's inexcusable . He could have accepted the medals he didn't earn with grace and went on with his life , but time and again he proved what a two faced pinko he really is . First by disgracing those same medals , and then disgracing his fellow veterans . Again inexcusable . Just going there or being a vet don't make you a hero , your actions while you're there do . Fellow vet or not I'll never respect that POS .

He briefly fought in a combat zone for America; that's a big difference from 'defending' America.

Kevin1 summed it up:

Now I'm not a veteran, and I've never experience combat. I can't say that I would ever want to, and who really would? But even so, to me Kerry is a disgrace to our military and its operations. "Defender of America" is the last thing I'd call him.

YEAH!!!!!! [8D]

I have two brothers-in-law that are Vietnam vets. One of them is actually, only 1 of 6 to come home from his platoon! [&:] Still to this day, he totally, CAN NOT go to the Vietnam Wall in D.C. I mean, he just can't do it... The other brother-in-law also saw combat and worked on choppers in Vietnam. Both of them saw so many horrors and indescribable things, that they won't talk too much about stuff. ...not even to my sisters.

Anyway, they are members of the Vietnam Vets organization and know a lot of guys and also know a lot about "the real Kerry", if you get my drift. Trust me.... There is a ton of sh** out there that is not published, but, the vets know.... They all know.... They know who did what, when, where, etc. Kerry is a horrible turncoat and absolutely DESPISED by the vets. You should see my bothers-in-law whenever Kerry is on TV!! [:@]
