Speaking as a bone-tired citizen of this falling-apart-at-the-seams country, one who has to get up at 4 a.m. and stoke the fire before heading off to work in my worn-out Crown Vic, usually having to hike the final two or three miles - through the pouring rain, no less - because the Crown Vic conks out more often than not, and finally arrive at my job site, where I work 60 hours a week just to feed my three dogs, two cats, four gerbils, parrot and gray lizard, and still live in poverty just barely managing to pay my $100/month cellphone bill and $80/month cable bill and keep the water in my custom-installed pool chemically treated . . . I am so thankful to know that help is on the way.
Watching that good-looking John Edwards speak last night, I was grateful to find out that he and Kerry will be taking from the top one-to-two percent of the money-makers in this country to help my lazy rear-end out of poverty. Not one single American is going to be in poverty!! Can you imagine? Why didn't someone else think of this?? This is classic stuff, friends! This is Sherwood Forest stuff. Take from the rich and give to the poor! I love socialism!! John Robin Edwards Hood!

And our soldiers in Iraq, Lord love 'em. They signed up to get a paycheck and a free education and the government went and sent them to war! How dare they!? The very idea! But help is on the way, and we're going to bring them back home.
And poor Mrs. Rosenblum up the street who John Edwards mentioned. She's working night shift down at the factory to feed her family because her husband is a National Guard member and has been spent overseas to fight in the war against terrorism. And she worries every night because she doesn't know how she's going to keep food on her kids' table. Oh, what a heart-touching story! That's stuff that tear-jerker country songs are made of right there! (Psst. . . Just don't let word get out that Mr. Rosenblum is receiving a salary for being off at war just as he would if he were working at home, plus a bonus package because he's separated from his children).

And them guard members that have been overseas in Iraq for over a year. Yes, I know, I don't know of any guard members that have been over there for a year, either. But they're there, because Mr. Edwards said they were. And we know that the Democrats would never tell us anything other than the truth! Hang in there, fellers, help is on the way!
Oh, we're going to bring home all our troops and let them go back to getting a free education and a honorable salary while never expecting them to march into battle. And at the same time, we're going to seek out every al Quaida member and kill them. Mr. Edwards said so! The miraculous part? We're going to do this without sending our troops into harm's way!! God bless you, Mr. Edwards and Mr. Kerry, for your ingenius thinking and great ideas. Help is truly on the way!!
And healthcare. . . Can you imagine? Every SINGLE American is going to be able to receive healthcare!! Oh, my. And not only that. . . but we're going to do it without raising taxes for anyone but the top 1 or 2 percent. More socialism!! God bless our government. I don't know any guard or reserve members who've done a year straight... but I know a BUNCH who've done a year TDY over the past 2 years. Maybe YOU should volunteer so you can have a reason to complain...

We don't expect to never go into battle. We train to fight and defend our country, so you (or my daughter) won't have to. Again, your welcome... That "honorable" salary is pretty paultry compared to the average civilian comensurate skill, but the difference is we are more concerned with three things before money. They are DUTY, HONOR and COUNTRY!

Ben's post is obviously a lampoon of the democratic hopefuls and if you took offense at some imagined slight towards our troops it's time to start using your helmet with the oxygen on more often even at sea level.
The joke was pretty thin, if it even was a *joke*. Yes, I understand it was a jab at the Dems... but if you actually care to read WHAT was written... it takes a jab at a lot more. I don't do what I do for recognition, but I'll be *you know what* if I'm going to sit back and let someone talk smack to try and make one political party look stupid at the expense of those with thier butts on the line.

So just where is the joke? Mr Edwards is an idiot... agreed. I'm from his state! I already know this. BUT, the highlighted part is a jab at who? Not Edwards, because Edwards is RIGHT (for once). So just who is wrong now sparky? Sensitive? You bet your back side!!!!! And by god proud of what I do!!!
You might want to heed at least one part of your advice... pull the horns in before they get broke off in a sensitive part of your anatomy.
To me his "help is on the way" tirade, implied that our troops are incompetent, and incapable of doing the job in Iraq, and need outside help! I don't see how any veteran could support the Heinz-kerry/Edwards team!
