Default Why do so many gun-owners buy into the?

Assault weapons ban? I visit with several gun-owners that have bought this AWB hook line and sinker just like the liberal anti-gunners, Can't they see that the AWB is a total joke, Can't they see that true assault weapon has been illegal long before this deceiving law came into play. The weapons that are banned by the AWB is no more dangerous or no more used in crime than any other gun, The most of them are banned on account of their physical looks, Until we can unite together as gun owners and speak as one we will never win this battle, With all the anti-gunners out there the last thing we need is a true gun-owner siding with them.

The most of the ones I know that agree with the AWB is democrats and siding with the anti-gunners on the AWB is one way they can have their cake and eat it to, They can still justify being a gun-owner and support some of their politicians in their own mind, I just wonder when are they going to face reality and the truth, One of these days they are going to have to make a decision to support their party or support gun-ownership.

AWB is a lie and just another tool the anti's have in making all guns illegal, that is their true agenda and what they are really after.

Strut,
The way I see it most firearm owners are hunters and don't have a reason to own one the so-called assualt weapons. Myself I could care less one way or another, just another law we don't need.
I do have a question, since I don't keep up with firearm issues, will lifting the AWB affect the 10 round magazine limit?

"High Capacity" Magazines

Another major effect of the law is the ban on manufacture of "high capacity ammunition feeding devices," otherwise known as normal or full capacity magazines. "High capacity" is arbitrarily defined as more than 10 rounds. Citizens must either pay exorbitant prices for "pre-ban" normal capacity magazines for their firearms, or use inferior artificially limited magazines. Neither choice is appealing.

You do realize that the AWB language is so vague it could easily be interpreted to include such firearms as the Browning BAR and the Remington 7400 as well as numerous semiautomatic shotguns? All it takes is a tweak here and there and we are all stuck with single shots.

Rem.222, Since "You could care less"....why bother posting? Although within HNI rules you do have that right.
I have a Rem. 30.06 w a 5 bullet mag. Only keep 2 in it though....as always just need 1 bullet.(like the second as you never know.)
This ban will make my deer rifle illegal as a semi-auto it will be considered an "assault rifle"!! What a crock of crap that is......[:'(]

I own some semi-auto weapons. They are legal "AT THIS TIME" but only if I don't make certain COSMETIC changes to their appearance. Of course, there are other things I cannot do to these weapons that would make them illegal, but those modifications were illegal before the AWB.
If you own an SKS, a Browning Auto-5, A Browning BAR, A Rem 7400,.... or any kind of semi-auto mentioned in the AWB or NOT mentioned in the AWB,,.... you are in future jeopardy of being scrutinized b/c of the language and intent of this POS legislation.
I will offer that the AWB did not cause crime to go up...it caused retail prices to go up...and perhaps even black market street prices...

But crime did NOT go down, as was the veiled and stated intent

Maybe you should, thats the reason you "could care less".

The assault weapons bill introduced by feinstein they are trying to get into effect now includes EVERY semi-auto shotgun there is.

It's called complacency. I don't own a (name your gun) and therefore I don't care if that one is outlawed. They never think that perhaps the one they own will be the next that is banned.
Rem.222, You are absolutely and unequivocably wrong! The majority of gun owners are not and have not been for years, HUNTERS. There are approximately 80 million gun owners in the United States, and at last count, about 15 million hunters. We are an ever (the hunters) decreasing minority.
When will people learn that gun ownership is not about hunting or self protection or even about protecting our property or family, but a right granted in the constitution of the United States to enable us, the citizens, to protect ourselves from the DAMNED GOVERNMENT!!

Strut, I understand your frustration! My answer to the question, is as someone before has said, COMPLACENCY! Couple this with the "I could care less" attitude, you have a group of gun owners that are not very knowledgeable about the issues confronting us today!
When gun owners display these two traits, they become easy prey to the "COMPROMISE " doctrine of the Anti's!
When I talk to a gun owner that says, "why do we need assault weapons anyhow?" My first question to them is "What is an assault weapon?" !!!!!
Because of the complacency, and carelessness, they do not understand that many so-called "hunting guns" are either on the list to be banned, or they are actually much more powerful than those "scary" looking, assault weapons!
Also, to me, the worst part of the "I don't care" group, is a SELFISHNESS that the anti's are quick to play upon, in an effort to divide gun owners!
Notice the anti's pick on smaller groups of gun owners! First, was the cheaper hand guns, then the assault weapons, and now the .50 caliber target guns! These are types of guns that the vast majority of gun owners do not have, so they will be easier to ban IF ALL GUN OWNERS DON"T STICK TOGETHER!
As knowledgeable gun owners we need to combat this complacency and carelessness among our own ranks! We don't need to be argumenative, but calmly explain to those gun owners who are being lulled into a false sense of security by the anti's lies, what the real facts are, and what the anti's true adgenda really is!---- A COMPLETE BAN ON ALL GUNS!
The biggest facts are:
*There is no such thing as an assault weapon.
*Just about every gun we've had throughout history, started out as a "military" weapon.
*There are already laws against fully automatic guns.
*Laws need to punish criminals, not the gun or the law abiding gun owner!
*Hunting is not a true "right," the Second Amendment IS, and protecting the Second Amendment helps protect hunting too!
*The best way to protect our Second Amendment, and hunting, is to join and support the NRA!!
*We cannot COMPROMISE with the anti's! They want ALL GUNS, PERIOD!
The anti's are betting that complacency, and compromise will be the downfall of the Second Amendment! If we do not learn the facts, and take a stand, I'm afaid that "C & C" will not only be the downfall of the Second Amendment, but the ruin of our whole nation, as well!
Well, I guess I'll get off of my soap box now! I just cannot stand COMPLACENCY, and COMPROMISE, among our own people!
LEARN THE TRUTH, AND YOU WON"T BE DECIEVED BY THE ANTI"S!
