As you can tell, this is a cut and paste email I got. I do not have the time nor inclination to prove these as facts.

I have a theory on 'wealth'...How it is built, and then squandered.
I would say that the majority of "wealth" in a family is built in just one generation. There is typically one person who creates a family fortune...That person is motivated, has the right 'stuff' to succeed, and goes a long way.
Then they die.
Their kids then have the option of continueing the chain of wealth, or screwing it up. Typically, the second generation is just smart enough to not screw up so bad as to run the family fortune into the ground...They simply live their lives on the shoulders of what the first generation created.
The third generation is usually the one who throws it all in the trash. If not the third generation directly, then those who marry into, or are associated with that same generation. You know...That generation that has no spirit of "achievement" so to speak. Sure, they might have visions of grandour, but they don't have the skills to actually pull it off.
This story about Teresa Heinz just simply furthers my convictions about my theory.
The world is full of hard working, honest Americans. But frankly speaking, even though just about everyone has asperations of being rich one day...It's only about one soul in a thousand or more that actually achieves that dream.
I make that statement not to enrage or discourage anyone...It just is what it is. Occasionally someone comes along that has the brains, fortitude, skills and just plain dumb luck to succeed far and above all of their contemporaries.
The social repercussions that we collectively reap is: A few decades later, we Have folks like the Heinz/Kerry couple to contend with.
